Yeah, it wasn't the best race I've ever seen but didn't think it was all that bad. Obviously having 1/4 of the grid taken out at the first corner wasn't ideal. Moto2 has provided the best racing in any category this year IMO and the new CRT bikes (which will make up the whole grid from 2013) should be a step in the right direction. They are basically bigger 1000cc Moto2 bikes which should be much more evenly matched and cheaper to run. In theory it should make the sport more affordable so more teams can afford to enter the premier class.

What about Pedrosa Chris?, you must have recognized him? He was the guy who went rubbish when it started to rain!

Watched the final race, and have to say, I was so bored. I have a hard enough time trying to identify riders as it is, but with Simoncelli gone, Lorenzo out and Rossi being taken out, it was such a crappy end to the dismal year.

Yep, I would expect Mr. Iannone to keep the Honda spares dept. very busy next year if he gets the ride! Saying that most of the really fast guys go through a phase of chucking bikes down the road when they first get to MotoGP. It has been hard to really compare other Suter riders to Marquez this season as I think it's fair to say he has been given rather preferential treatment in 2011. Scott Redding recently joked that he got to do more testing than the entire Moto2 grid combined this year and why was he was the only rider to get the 2012 Suter chassis this year? After Marquez, Iannone was definitely the next quickest Suter rider this year. On the bike he has always reminded me very much of Marco Simoncelli. He comes from nowhere and just seems to mercilessly barge his way to the front, I like him a lot.

Congratulations to Mrs. Numnut for handing us our collective asses for the second year running in the Freeola championship.

She's not mentioned that yet......

Yeah it was nice to see everyone's tributes over the weekend - you're right, the racing was really good (in not just the lower classes for a change!). I thought the worst seeing takahashi's crash, but the fact he was moving afterwards was a good sign. Good for the gresini team to get a victory!

Nice finish to the season for Crutchlow (he's now more successful in GP than JT). Spies rode well, and it's a real shame he didn't get the victory, but that Honda has got some acceleration!

Aside from the testing - which in itself should be exciting - we're going to have a bit of musical riders over the next few months as there's still a few seats to fill. Iannone (or Ya - no- nay as Eurosport like to call him) would be a good choice, but I'd be a bit worried about the repair bill he'd create in the first part of the season.

Congratulations to Mrs. Numnut for handing us our collective asses for the second year running in the Freeola championship.

A very difficult weekend for everyone in the sport but some fitting Sic tributes and most of all some totally class racing. First corner of the GP race didn't exactly go to plan but that's racing, the finish certainly made up for it! As ever Moto2 was superb. Brilliant result for Pirro, he was on a mission from the second the lights went out. Glad to hear Takahashi is OK, that was a very nasty tumble.

1000cc testing commences Tuesday. Ducati are to run their 2012 Aluminum framed machine with both Rossi & Hayden, hopefully this is the final part of the puzzle for them. Gresini Honda are apparently going to give Andrea Iannone a test on their bike. If he can get to grips with a GP machine he would be a great choice IMO, a very exciting and aggressive rider.

Lorenzo out for Valencia, rubbish Japanese test rider to waste his bike.

Marquez out for Valencia, Bradl is therefore 2011 Moto2 champion. Shame Yamaha couldn't have given Bradl Lorenzo's bike instead.

Some good news to cheer us up a little bit. If German site Speedweek are to be believed (and Babel Fish has translated the article correctly) then it would appear that Leon Camier has just signed to race with Crescent Suzuki in WSBK. Depending on Suzuki's decision regarding it's MotoGP project then he will most likely be joined by either Hopper or Hill. Knew I should have paid more attention in German lessons at school!

Yeah, as soon as Sic's helmet flew off you just knew he wasn't going to get away with that one. He was just unbelievably unlucky, simple as that.

Gresini Honda have just announced that they will race at Valencia on Sunday (both Moto2 riders & Aoyama in MotoGP). Although anyone would have totally understood if they decided they couldn't face it. I am glad they have decided to attend as the grid was looking seriously depleted. AMA champion Josh Hayes is to ride Edwards bike so respect to Herve Poncheral for putting an actual racer on his bike. Both factory Yamaha riders are still looking doubtful so I don't know what's going to happen there? This weekend is going to be very difficult for everyone involved in the sport but running a race with a handful of bikes or a grid made up of slow test riders is not what anyone wanted to see this weekend. Thought Simoncelli's parents have been quite outstanding throughout this ordeal, can see how he became the person he did. For sure he knew the risks but it's still horrible and very sad and you just know how awesome he would have been on that 1000 next year.

Still can't really believe what happened with Simoncelli, it's just really sad. As soon as you saw his helmet follow Edward's bike off the track you knew something bad had happened.

I think you're right Pete, a couple of laps later on, and the bikes would have been a lot more spaced out, meaning it would have been a bit of a highside as the bike gripped again, but nothing more. Unfortunately for everyone, it wasn't.

Bad crash pete ... but stayed with bike :¬(

Yeah, it was horrific. The 2 main circumstances that I believe contributed to this tragedy were that it happened so early in the race with the bikes still closely bunched together and as I previously mentioned that Sic's bike seemed to find grip and fired him back into the following pack. Actually can't remember the last time I have seen this happen. Corsi & Pasini had similar incidents in the preceding Moto2 race and simply slid out of the way of the following bikes. BBC's Matt Roberts has described Simoncelli's crash as a ''freak accident'' which I would agree with. As well as Marco's friends and family, got to feel for Rossi & Edwards. No way either could have possibly avoided him, very sad.
