Interesting noises being made from the Ducati test at Mugello, hopefully this new engine is the missing piece of the puzzle for them? We got a glimpse of MotoGP with Rossi back at the front again and I think it's fair to say the sport really needs that. Will check Alex Briggs Twitter later on as he seems to be insinuating that they may actually be onto something, lets hope so...
Totally agree, Paul Bird acted very unprofessionally...... perhaps he should be attempting to find out why that is rather than making such ridiculous comparisons?
Precisely - it seems to be chatter caused by electronics that's holding them up in the dry, sounds like their traction control just over compensates for everything - it gives a bit of power, panics and cuts the power, then gives too much power, panics and over and over again - if you're relying on a computer to tell you how much throttle it should give you, at least make sure it knows what it's doing!
I wonder what Stoner would say after having a go on his bike?
If the sun stays out I might be off to snetterton this weekend it's only about an hour way so it'd be rude not to! It'll be nice to see some racing in something other than very cold/wet conditions.
Cheers for the NW link, I'll have a look at that at some point.
Very sad about Mark Buckley, these guys race just for the love of the sport, even those who do manage to get a wage don't exactly earn megabucks. Doubt any of them earn a year what some Premiership footballers take home a week, as dangerous as road racing is it's still very sad.
Glad Ellison didn't get sidelined for Le Mans as if it had been Shakey that got that result I reckon Ellison would have got the boot, how unfair would that have been? Totally agree, Paul Bird acted very unprofessionally, the Stoner statement he made on Eurosport was ludicrous. The similar Aspar bikes of De Puniet & Espargaro seem to work much better than the PBM machine in the dry, perhaps he should be attempting to find out why that is rather than making such ridiculous comparisons?
Interesting weekend....
Gutted for Gino Rea in Moto2, that move of Zarco's was very harsh. Chuffed for Scott Redding though, fantastic ride.
Yeah I thought that was a pretty harsh move too - no one really seemed to make much noise about it. Rea looked to be going really well, aside from the slide just before he was taken out he was pretty stable.
Redding seems a fair bit calmer this year as well. Instead of going all out and binning it, he's making better decisions.
Talking of harsh moves did you see Alastair Seeley's move on William Dunlop in the NW200? I was really surprised by that and by his comments afterwards, never thought he was like that.
I managed to pretty much avoid all coverage on the northwest aside from the thursday races (which looked like a boat race with all that spray!), so no I didn't see any of it!!
I saw pics of Guy Martins crash which looked nasty - always sad when someone dies doing something like this too, poor guy was only 35.
GP was great though, now Mr.Burgess & Mr. Preziosi need to get working on making that Duke working like that in the dry! Special mention for top CRT James Ellison as well, that should get Paul Bird off his back for at least a couple of races... Spies had another shocker and the less said about Randy De Puniet's start the better!
Nice to see some fighting in the GP throughout the whole race - it's always good to watch Rossi 'play' with the others. Shame Cal came off - it looked like he would have been fine had Rossi and Dovi not been in front of him. It looked like he had to give a bit more brake to not hit them which caused his crash, nevermind a crash and a top 10 isn't a bad day!
Good for Elison to get a result, I think Paul Bird was a bit out of order with his comments about elison at BSB the other week - something along the lines of 'stoner has chatter but he wins races' - Really? If he expects his CRT to compete with tens of millions that Honda have invested in their bike then he must be a bit confused!

Can't see Dovi going back to HRC, they didn't want him there last year so can't see why they'd change their minds. Marquez will have to ride HRC at some point so that Repsol are happy but that can't be next year.
It all depends whether lorenzo stays at yamaha or not I think. I can't see spies getting another year on current form either, so there may be a 'spare' seat there...but who knows!
I can't see Rossi at Honda, back at Yamaha maybe, roll on musical seats!
Sounds like Stoner has a made a very difficult decision (how can you retire at 26/27???) - he's clearly the best rider out there at the moment, I reckon he's got a fair number of championships left in him too - I think what happened to Simoncelli would have played a part in it, what with the baby. Fair play to him though, he'll retire as world champion I'm sure.
Regarding Rossi, Italian sites are reporting that when HRC boss Shuei Nakamoto was asked yesterday if there was any possibility of him returning to the team he replied:
''At this point, anything is possible. We have to think about it''
Bit of a surprise really as this was the same guy who vowed that after Rossi left at the end of 2003 that he would never race for them again?
MotoGP is going to SKY in Italy with Italian terrestrial TV switching to WSB, can't see other European territories escaping Murdoch's greasy mitts TBH. Hope I'm wrong....
Regarding the Hickman thing, it does seem a little wierd that he was racing for MSS under little more than a handshake? I don't believe he would have taken the one off Suzuki ride if thought he was going to fired for it. Paul Denning stated:
''MSS firing Hickman is a joke - how can you get fired from a job that doesn't pay you a single penny and for which you have no contract??''
''And judging by superb professional job done by Hickman on @crescentmoto GSX-R in WSBK he's better off waiting for a decent ride anyway...''
Pretty strong words but of course we don't know the full ins & outs of the situation. From the outside it does seem rather harsh to fire him, perhaps a severe dressing down followed by a public apology from Hickman for not quite understanding any 'grey areas' of his rather casual employment with MSS would have been a more appropriate way to deal with the situation? Or perhaps it was Kawasaki and not the MSS team that actually decided his fate?
NW200 coverage is live on the BBC NI Website on Saturday if you're interested? I'm away at a family function so I'm hoping it will be stored on iPlayer or shown later on Eurosport or something. If not I don't know if the live stream can be captured at all?
