Quite a lot gone on this weekend...
Yeah. the Spies accident was nasty - that almost never happens and could have been so so much worse, good it wasn't though - the only thing I've seen similar is when the rear wheel of the (so aptly named) Supersonic Ducati decided to part company with the bike at a track last year!
Everyone is saying he's off to BMW in WSB, not a bad ride at all but I wonder where that leaves haslam?
Good that Hayden gets to stay at ducati - in all honesty, I think he's more likely to be the one to get the results for them at the moment
Rossi never really does what you expect, so I think he's just as likely to stay with ducati as he is to go to yamaha again. My vote is a return to yamaha...
He's meant to be making his mind up before indy so not long to wait.
Oh yeah the race!, it was alright I suppose but no classic...
Yeah, I think laguna seca is always going to be a let down - the Rossi/Stoner duel from a few years back means that anything less than that at that track just isn't good enough - maybe they should move it to cadwell...
Is Rossi returning to Yamaha now then...? Well one thing I did notice was during Friday free practice (which I watched as my Mrs. was enduring that ridiculously overlong and obscenely expensive Olympic opening ceremony) when Rossi crashed. As he went down did you see the look on the faces of his crew?, they may as well have held up a 'we give up' board! It was a very similar crash to the one he had 2 laps from the end of the race, front end just went on him. I think he really wants to stay but is he really going to subject himself to 2 more years of this?
Oh yeah the race!, it was alright I suppose but no classic. You're dead right Moto 2 & 3 would have been awesome around that place! Still it's closed things up a little bit at the top of the table, it's not over yet.
Hayden will be off to BSB!
That really would be amazing!
Iannone in GP would be good, there's talk of the marc VDS team leasing a Desmo too - who knows!
I know Spies has had a shocking year, but I do feel a bit sorry for him TBH. He came within inches of winning the last race of 2011 and now he's being regularly beaten by both satellite riders? Fast guys don't become slow overnight, I'm really not sure whats going on? With both US rounds up next the timing sucks a bit too!
I guess he's riding a bike designed (now) around Lorenzo and maybe it's not quite right for him. He was quite aggressive in WSB and on the tech3 bike, I guess he just doesn't like the super smooth new yam or the team.
No doubt there's going to be some crazy rumours to come out of the paddock this weekend too! It's a real shame that we don't get moto2 and 3 though, the US are really missing out.
I completely agree BSS (and WSS for that matter) has provided great racing recently.
Had a look on some Italian sites last night, one was reporting that the Yamaha line up will be Rossi & Lorenzo while Crutchlow & Iannone will be the factory Ducati riders. I think they must pull some of these stories out of their backsides TBH, by lunchtime Dovi will be on his way to Yamaha, Rossi will be staying at Ducati & Hayden will be off to BSB!

Ben Spies announced earlier today he will not be on a factory Yamaha next year....
His 'letter' sounded like he's fallen out with people at Yamaha I thought. He said something like 'there's people at yamaha I'll miss' which implies there's some that he wont (lin jarvis....?).
There's rumours of him going of to cycling, staying in GP with Suzuki next year and all kinds of other stuff.
Maybe Cal doesn't need to sign for Ducati just yet then...or maybe Rossi has already taken the seat....
Superbikes was really good - you're right about sykes in race 2, that was a great race and I really thought (and hoped) he was going to win - melandri irritates me a bit sometimes! Good that the ZX10 managed to not eat its tyres halfway through the race though, looks like kawasaki have found a 'softer' (not really the right word considering how powerful it is!) setting for the bike.
Not sure about Haslam either, I wouldn't be suprised if Paul Bird makes enquiries for his CRT team, but Aoyama isn't keeping his ride, so there'll be a seat going spare there.
Silly season is a lot of fun this year!
I really enjoyed the sprint race in the british supersport too, richards and kennedy were almost touching each other for most of the race!
The BMW looks a real weapon in the hands of Melandri at the moment but not so much with Haslam?, unless he can pull something really special out of the bag over the next couple of races it looks like he may struggle to keep that ride, especially with BMW 'officially' pulling out of the series at the end of the year. Can't see Aoyama keeping his Ten Kate ride and Haslam was awesome on that Stiggy Honda a few years back so maybe there could be a place for him there? (if it turns out that there is no available ride at BMW).
Barbera has apparently broke his leg in a motocross training accident, going to be out of action for around 6 weeks and (according to the Italian press) will be replaced by Toni Elias.
Rumours seem to have Elias returning to Gresini which doesn't look like being good news for Gino Rea. According to the Italian press Dovi is apparently contemplating a move to WSB is he can't secure a factory GP ride for next year, don't know if he's serious or just calling Yamaha's bluff?
Not good for him though, maybe he could have Elias' ride in moto2!
It's looking more like Brno or just after - which might not be good enough or soon enough for Rossi (especially as the honda boss has said 'i'll put rossi on a factory spec satellite honda' - visordown will tell you all about it).
I think he'll stay with Ducati, and will ultimately win, but who knows...
I did read the Honda story on Visordown as well as the one on Crash where it was reported that Rossi could be on board a Marlboro backed Yamaha next year...
He's clearly the next piece in the rider puzzle for next year but I too think he'll end up staying with Ducati. At the start of the season they were finishing around half a minute behind the race winner, last Sunday it was just 11secs. Even when adding a few extra for Lorenzo waving to the crowd on his final lap, things don't seem anything like as bad as they were earlier in the season.
Now that the rookie rule has been abolished perhaps Mr. Ezpeleta can get rid of that ridiculous 4 bikes per team rule and get a few more machines out there for next year.
