Anyone catch the Colts vs Patriots game to kick off the start of the 85th NFL season? Was a great way to start the season and i hope all the games are as entertaining. Was in a strange situation where i couldn't care who actually won this as i find New England to be horribly boring and Ty Law to be very annoying (he takes arrogance to a whole new level, he makes Jose Mourinho look like the most modest man in the world) and Indianapolis aren't much better with Peyton 'Most over-hyped player ever' Manning leading the charge.

Was good to hear the greatest commentating duo in all of sports Al Michaels and the legend John Madden back once again, no one can beat them.

But anyway the game, few interceptions thrown by Manning showing just how average he is and proving once more New England is not his favourite place (Vick and McNabb are far better) and Ty Law spending most of the game on the bench and when he did come on he got schooled by Marvin Harrison (and why Manning wasn't throwing to him more often i've no idea, he's your best reciever you muppet, use him) Great ending as well with McGuinness sacking him and leaving VanDerJagt with a hard field goal which he missed when he should have only had about a 35 yard attempt to knock threw the sticks.

Bring on the rest of the season

You don't get to chose punt block when you're on offense and punting the ball. I assume you're meaning the max cover punt... which I previously thought gave more coverage for your punter than for your returner.

I used to use the fantasy draft, but then I realised that if you're always taking young players, eventually you're going to have a load of old players, and are going to have a few seasons where you'll need to have a major revamp in the rookie draft. Which is why I'm now playing with the regular Raiders team. The number of old players retiring at the end of each season is about 3 or 4, so I can pick up 3 or 4 good replacements every draft. Flowing. Oh yes.

If you're on the GC, then Y tucks the ball under, allowing you to rush at normal speed. Don't know what it'll be for PS2 and Xbox.

If you want seriously big yardage from a QB scramble, do a Hail Mary. Snap the ball, and the side which had 3 or 4 coverage defenders previously will be completely empty as they follow the 3 receivers running out of this side. It's always enough to pick up a first down, and quite often a lot more than that. And if I can accomplish a first down here with Marques Tuiasosopo, then Vick will be magic.

Also, a good way to prevent that is to go for the punt block, as tehy bring everyone in to try and prevent the block, so you can usually get a good 10-15 yard return.

I tried to fair catch the first time, but, didn't, for some odd reason, and I can't even remember if I tried to on the second attempt, I think I tried again, but didn't.

Still, I'm only 17 points behind at half time (I have important work to do at the moment), so hopefully I should catch up.

I used thr fantasy draft (morr fun), but all thr good cornerbacks and halfbacks and wide receivers were gone when I went to buy them.

I did get awesome safeties though, and Vick's my QB, so I can run with him.
He gets injured a lot though, and is there anyway you can make him run by pushing a button instead of having to make him waddle past wherever the ball started?

I can start off with plenty of room to run (I could prbably make it 20 yards), but by the time he actually starts to sprint I'm lucky if I make it 5 yards.

If he runs away, how is it fumbled? If it makes contact when he's running away, then it's your fault for getting him too near the ball when there's no chance of making a catch.

Edit: I think I just realised what you were meaning. The computer was making him run away? If so, then you shouldn't be trying to run him back to catch the ball, as the obvious advantage to your team would occur if the ball is allowed to bounce itself.

Also, always fair catch if it looks anything like you're going to get tackled within a couple of seconds after the catch. You'll nearly always fumble unless you do so.

*Half related to this thread*

I hate Madden 2005.

Twice in a row, the Patriots scored TD's because my damn receiver ran away from the ball when it was punted, so it was "fumbled" when I tried to catch it.

Booooooo.

Ahhhh. OK.

It must be Minnesota, and Green Bay must be the highest rank seed.

Eagles will play the lowest ranked seed to win in the wild card games, and the lowest ranked seed is Minnesota or St Louis, I forget which. It just works out that way.

Why can Green Bay not play Philly in the divisional championships, and Minnesota not play Atlanta?

I'm hoping for a Seahawks - Eagles Conference Championship, but we all know that Seattle will break down in Q4 against the Rams, AGAIN, and lose, AGAIN.

If the Seahawks win though, I hoep they play Atlanta, as we beat them before (though I doubt we'll manage it again), and I expect Green Bay to beat Minnesota.

The emale says that there won't be, so everyone sign up on superbowl.com! It's a bit different but still good - we should have our own SR league.

My predictions for the 'bowl - Steelers - Packers with a Steelers win.
