Anyone catch the Colts vs Patriots game to kick off the start of the 85th NFL season? Was a great way to start the season and i hope all the games are as entertaining. Was in a strange situation where i couldn't care who actually won this as i find New England to be horribly boring and Ty Law to be very annoying (he takes arrogance to a whole new level, he makes Jose Mourinho look like the most modest man in the world) and Indianapolis aren't much better with Peyton 'Most over-hyped player ever' Manning leading the charge.

Was good to hear the greatest commentating duo in all of sports Al Michaels and the legend John Madden back once again, no one can beat them.

But anyway the game, few interceptions thrown by Manning showing just how average he is and proving once more New England is not his favourite place (Vick and McNabb are far better) and Ty Law spending most of the game on the bench and when he did come on he got schooled by Marvin Harrison (and why Manning wasn't throwing to him more often i've no idea, he's your best reciever you muppet, use him) Great ending as well with McGuinness sacking him and leaving VanDerJagt with a hard field goal which he missed when he should have only had about a 35 yard attempt to knock threw the sticks.

Bring on the rest of the season

So for my superbowl.com fantasy team, do I go with Javon Walker and the San Diego defence, or with Donald Driver and the Colt's defense?

You score points the less yardage your defense allows, as well as for turnovers. I'm thinking the SD defense will do me better than Indy.

Soon there'll be a Maddden 2006 wishlist. First on my list will be the ability to set my created playbook as the default so i dont have to select it before every game ARG

I didn't mean it.
It was a regular kick-off which I blundred and kicked to teh right by accident.

But every so often, when you do directional kick-offs, they go the other way, and that lets you in for a tackle as there's no-one to stop you.

Plus, touchbacks are good, it's difficult to stop them before they getto the 20 yard line, usually they get to 25 or 30 against me, so a touchback is good (even though I go, ARGH!!! every time they get one)

Yeah just kick straight why are you trying directional kicks on kickoffs. Fair enough on a punt but a kickoff? More often than not it'll just be a touchback from the 20, and if they do bring it out it's so easy to avoid blockers you can just Hit Stick their face in at the 15yd line.

Gonzalez is my tight end anyway.

And I've yet to get a penalty during a punt.
What annoys me though is teh gay-assed rule that if the ball goes OB beyond the 40-yard line on a kick-off, they offence starts at the 40, but if it goes OB before it, it starts wherever it goes OB.
And I had a hell of a kick against the Rams earlier, that hit the ground at the 3 yard line corner, and then went OB because the receiever didn't catch it, so they started at the 40.

Garh.

Oh and careful when choosing punt block, because more often than not you'll get a 5yd running into the kicker penalty, and sometimes the 15yd ruffing the kicker, which gives them a first down.

You should pretty much always look to fair catch it and if your guy has to run to catch the ball just take control of him and run him in the other direction, because sometimes he'll just run underneath the ball an it'll hit him and be a fumble. Punt returns are almost impossible in 2005, as are kick returns, unless you play on Rookie or Pro, which is very annoying. The most annoying thing though, is the restriction of substitutions! You can't put a WR where the game decides there should be a TE, for instance, and it really annoys me.

My fantasy drafts always work very well. I go for QB, HB, WR and then DE and move on from there. Pick your offensive line quite quickly though because it makes quite a difference, and don't worry too much about corners and linebackers. As long as corners are fast that's all that matters.

Nah, I meant on defence, if you go for Punt Block on defence, they'll change to a max cover punt (they always do), and it gives your receiver more space as they don't usually manage to get past whoever's blocking them.

And it's Y?
Damn manual didn't tell me. Thanks

I didn't just pick young players, I've got a lot of good playeers that are quite old.

But most of my players ARE young (23), but I doubt I'll play through 10 Franchises, and they'll still be younger than Jerry rice was 8 years ago.

:-D
