SNIPER was bored. So what if monsters had begun attacking the city again? There was nothing he could do about it. If those other stupid idiots he sometimes called his friends wanted to try to stop them, let them. He didn't want to go looking for any stupid sword.

__________

"So where the hell has SNIPER gone now?" asked Your Honour, turning to the other members of the party.

Grix shrugged, there were much bigger things to worry about than the whereabouts of SNIPER.
Ant however had seen SNIPER disappear, so decided to speak up "Well, he said we were a bunch of stupid morons trying to find this sword, and went off that way." Ant pointed towards a meadow.

"Well if he doesn't care about our homes being destroyed and us being enslaved then so be it. I do, and I vow to find the Sword of Nogard, and slay those foul beasts that attack our homes!" Cried Your Honour, and the three of them set off into the forest.

___________

SNIPER continued to wander through the meadow, it was a beautiful day, the suns were bright and the sky clear. Walking through the waist high grass amongst the butterfly was something that always helped to cheer SNIPER up. Maybe he should catch up with his friends he thought, and he too headed for the forest.

___________

pb marched up to FantasyMeister. "You can't keep sending our men out to die! We only have limited resources, and cannot fight them out there in the fields!"

"Then what would you suggest pb, letting those beasts inside our city walls, letting them slaughter our wives and feed on our children?" Replied FM looking down on pb.

"But we cannot hold out forever. We need help!" said pb shaking his head, as he walked away.

___________

SNIPER's mood had again changed for the worse. Where were those stupid idiots now? SNIPER looked round to see something catching the light in a clearing nearby. Maybe it was his friends! He ran into the clearing.

Moments later he realised that it was not his friends in the clearing, but something much more special. Stuck in the ground was a sword. The sword of Nogard! As SNIPER approached it he suddenly felt a chill in the air. The skies had clouded over, and the wind had picked up to such an extent that the trees creaked. If SNIPER could retrieve the sword, he would be a hero! No more would he be laughed at!

SNIPER grabbed the sword and pulled with all of his might. He could feel the first drops of a violent rain storm lash against his face. Still he pulled on the sword, until it gave up it's hold on the ground. SNIPER could feel great power within him as he held it.

He held it toward the skies as a sign of victory.
_____________

Grix didn't like this change in the weather. Not one bit. Why had it changed so suddenly? He could feel something strange in the air. "That way!" He cried, pointing towards a clearing nearby as thunder crashed in his ears and lightning lit up the skies.

_____________

"Aaaarghhhh!" Cried SNIPER as he was thrown to the ground. A lightning bolt had struck the sword and flowed through his body.

_____________

Your Honour was the first into the clearing. "It's SNIPER" he said, "Or at least it was...." he said, looking at the charred remains of his former companion.

"It looks as if we weren't the first at the scene" Said Ant, pointing towards some footprints leading out of the clearing. Next to these was a strange track, much like that that would be left be a sword, being dragged through grass........

Grix's brain's pager started to beep. This was strange, because it was set on vibrate.

"Hmmm. Unknown presense. We've got a foreign body."

"What?"

Grix's brain stood, and headed across the bar. "I'll have to get to the control room. It wil probably take a while."

"Should I come too?"

"No... you should leave now. I'll deal with this."

"Surely you need all the help you can get?"

"It's alright. I'm a bounty killer, I'm used to this sort of thing."

Grix HAD been wondering what he did here...

"How do I leave then?"

"Like you normally do. Just wake up, or something."

-----------

Grix woke to find Pb looking into the distance.

"Where's Sheepy?"

"Ah. You're awake. Sheepy has been kidnapped, probably by one of those Snipers. I've got no idea where he is."

"He hasn't been kidnapped. He's done a runner."

"Eh?"

Grix went on to tell Pb about how Sheepy had betrayed them all. It was a long story, and Grix was unhappy when FantasyMeister woke, and wanted to hear it too. Grix refused to tell him, to make the story more realistic.

"Oh sod you then. I don't need to know the plot."

Pb woke with a start. Someone was missing.

He looked around and saw that Sheepy's cloth had been left to blow away in the wind and Sheepy himself was nowhere to be found.

"I knew he was going to be trouble..." he mumbled.

"Who?" FM looked up at Pb as he tried to work out who Pb was talking about. "Ah, Sheepy's gone."

Sheepy has been lying still for some time, not knowing if he was asleep or awake until he was troubled with a large noise coming from Pb....

He was asleep, now Sheepy could attempt to get into Grix's mind. He moved across the floor, trying hard not to make a sound on the old wood. He made it without it creaking, he crept up behind Grix....

He of course was trying to enter the mind of Grix, but was not too sure how to as Grix has a confusing mind and he had not read the beginning of the story :D. He found a funnel and stuck it into Grix's ear not too sure what he was going to do next......

Then in the corner of his eye he spooted a sache of powder

"Add water, a piece of your brain, an eyelash and some cheese to instantly enter Grix's mind"

"What a stroke of luck" said Sheepy, he followed the instructions and poured the solution into Grix's head WOOSHHHH (like a Matrix thing)

--------------------------------

Darth Sheepy had returned!!!!!! This time to his home planet Sheepyerus. He was greeted by a sea of Sniper clones. "Excellent" said Sheepy with an evil grin, all is going acording to plan....

Meka and co were still in the taxi. They'd been there for quite some time now. Nobody was quite sure why they were still there. It had been several hours since the taxi driver started swearing at them and insisting they got out. He was gone now. It was just them, in the taxi, in the taxi park, where all the taxis were parked when not in use. The taxi hadn't moved for a good hour now, and it had been a good half an hour since anyone had spoken.

This was mainly because there was a contest going on. There had been a disagreement about what to do next. YH, Dan and VenomByte had suggested they waited for something interesting to happen to them, whilst meka, Ant, and SonicRav had suggested they 'get out of the bloody taxi and do something useful'.

So there was a silence contest. Whichever team spoke first, lost the argument.

So they sat, and waited.

--------------------------------

Sniper (one of the clones, obviously) stood next to the delorean, and opened the door. He'd forgotten the doors opened upwards, however, and it caught him right on the chin, sending him sprawling backwards onto the floor.

He pulled himself to his feet, when suddenly - he had an idea. Yes, he had an idea. This was obviously a fault in the programming of the X32A clone series.

Sniper's idea was this: If he could go back in time with the delorean, he could stop Grix's parents ever meeting each other, and prevent the Grix problem once and for all....

---------------------------------

Still silence in the car park, interrupted only by the faint humming of the engine of an approaching car. Meka looked at the road to the left, and squinted to try to see the car approaching. It looked like.... a delorean. You don't dee them around very often. And who was that driving it?

"Hey, Sniper's in a delorean!" meka shouted.

"Right, we win" said YH.

"Come one, we'd better follow hin!" Ant exclaimed.

"Nope. We just won. We'll wait here for something interesting to happen now" replied Venombyte

"What?" asked Meka, incredulously, "This isn't interesting enough for you??"

"erm..."

"Right, we're following him" said Ant.

"I'll drive" said YH.

"Good thing the taxi driver left his keys in here" Meka pointed out.

The taxi started up, and skidded it's way out of the gravel-surfaced carpark. They sped after Sniper, hoping desperately to catch him before he went over 80mph

"Are you sure it wasn't 90?" asked YH

"Who are you talking to?" asked Venombyte

"oh... nobody"

"What's that in kmph, anyway?" asked Ant.

"Dunno"

So they tailed sniper's delorean, hoping that the next writer would have a slightlyt better recollection of 'Back To The Future'.....

SC Neville entered his private chamber. This was the only room in the whole palace that he, and only he, could enter. It had taken him months, and the deaths of many slaves, to perfect the spell.

As he approached the door, he should have had to stop walking. Any observer would have expected him to hit into the door, but that did not happen. Just as SC Neville seemed to walk into the door, it opened of it's own accord.

He entered the room, and with a wave of his hand, lit the candles that were on brackets atteched to the walls of the circular room. The room was at the very top of a turret of the palace. It was about 60 feet across. The height was uncertain, suffice to say that the light from the candles around the room did not illuminate any form of ceiling.

The room had been perfect for SC Neville. It was out of the way, and only had a small number of narrow tall windows towards the top of the walls.

He should have done this earlier, he had left it too long. He hoped the delay would not bring any repercusions, to himself, or to the plan. The preperations would take a while, so he began without preamble.

First was to draw the symbols on the floor around the 5 braziers. The braziers were each the point of a five pointed star around 15 feet across. SC Neville had no problems drawing the symbols for the incantation, he had done it many times before, they seemed to be engraved on his soul. He was born, destined to draw them.

He had to be careful though. One wrong stroke could cause the death of him, and the reciever of the spell. The spell worked, not by bringing one person's image to the other, but by taking them both into the underworld, for them to communicate as long as the spell lasted. There was a price of course, one SC Neville was prepared to pay. The price was, of course, blood. The Keeper merely needed to be satisfied with blood to allow the spell to be cast and sustained.

SC Neville continued to work swiftly, confident in his skill. Drawing from the outside in, he completed just as the moon was about to start setting. There were still a number of hours until dawn though.

He stood in the exact centre of the star, an eye scanning his handiwork, checking for any imperfections, finding none, of course. Best to check though, all the same.

With a wave of his hand the braziers lit, all five a different colour, ranging from white, through yellow, orange, red and the darkest maroon, almost black flame behind him. They all illuminated brightly, but brought no heat. SC Neville felt sweat dripping down his back, ignored it and contiuned the incantation, his voice raising and lowering in pitch and volume.

Smoke started to appear around the edges of the star, the spell had begun. This was the area he would take with him into the underworld. The same would be happening to the reciever of the spell. SC Neville stood with his head bowed, sweat dripping off his nose with the effeort of the spell he was creating.

"Ahhh, Neville, my loyal servant". SC Neville raised his head, to see the spectral figure in front of him, "Is all going well with our plan Neville?"

"We are progressing master". Replied Neville.

"We are? That is good news." The masters voice was not unkind, almost friendly.

"We are finalising the cloning process as we speak Master."

"Good. Although there may be another problem that has arisen."

"Master?."

"That Grix has found his way back."

"He has?"

"Yes, he is recieving help. I need to keep my eye on him."

In a dark cave there was a monster and 3 figures, each holding a different weapon. One held a sword, another a staff and the third a handgun.

The monster charged, its claws blocked by the sword. With the monster still, the figure with the staff fired a blast of magic towards it, throwing it at the wall. Once on the wall, the creature was being shot with strange bullets from the gun. Before it could stand up again, the swordsman had charged and cut off it's head.

The man with the staff walking over to the carcass. He pulled off a cape and put it on. There was a flash of light and a fourth figure emerged from behing him with the cloak.

The claoked figure momentarilly disappeared and re appeared. He then fired a dark blast towards the monster's remains, destroying it.

"What now?" he asked.

"We merge as one and wait" the swordsman said "We wait for the showdown battle and then we'll strike. We must not let the overlord's servant know of our progress."

"What of the Overlord?" the staffed one asked.

"He is once again at large but he may be more then we alone can handle."

"But surely if Grix can take him..."

"Grix has the power of the High Notable. He was destined to finish the job."

"So basically, we do the dirty work and he gets the glory."

"Traditionally. Things may not work out the same way this time. The overlords servant is playing with Grix's head. Should he destroy Grix before showing himself then it'll be up to us."

The 4 figure joined their hands together and merged back into one person. Dan left the cave, back to Fogmaster.

The Sniper clone, who died after attempting to kill the other Sniper, was still in Grix's mind.

"I haven't seen you for a while." Grix's brain said, with a smile on his face.

Grix looked around.

"What... the...?"

"I understand your suprise. Unfortunatly, I can't explain what happened."

Grix tipped back his black hat, and stared at the town surrounding him.

"Why the hell is my mind still set in a western?"

Grix's brain put his hands in his pocket. "I'm not sure. I think that when we were trapped inside the Megadrive cartridge, we managed to explore the deepest part of our minds imagination. It looks like it prefered it this way."

They both walked into a bar... and Grix's eyes widened.

--------------

"I think Grix has gone into one of his brain moments." Sheepy said, watching the almost lifeless Grix, crumpled on the ground. "He's odd."

"It was really strange in his mind." Pb said. "Did I ever tell you about it?"

"Little."

"When we were sent in to try to retrieve Grix from the Street Fighter 2 cartridge, we ended up in some kind of twisted western, apparently all made by his mind."

"Cool. Was I there?"

"Yeah, you were a gun shop owner."

"Cool." Sheepy smiled.

"I've been thinking about it recently, actually. In Grix's head, we were sent him to retrieve him, and help him agaisnt the overlord, because he was trapped on the cartridge too."

"Yeah, but he was killed, wasn't he?"

"Yeah, but not by us. After Ant got the details from the core of the cartridge, we found out that the overlord had found his own reality, and thought he was in the Vietnam war. We actually came in on it once or twice."

Sheepy thought for a second. "...So who was this evil that you were fighting in Grix's mind then?"

"I don't know."

------------------

"Hello there."

Grix looked at Jake Dragon, sitting on a table, finishing a meal.

"Jake?"

The man stood from the table, and bought his plate over to the bar. "Grix? What?"

"You're alive!"

"Good God, I am. So are you, you know."

Grix's brain pulled Grix to one side. "Everyone has been bought back. Sheepy still runs the gun shop across the road. Meka's the town sheriff... we get our fair share of troubles, but the town is pretty quiet."

"How long has this been going on for?"

"I can't remember. It just happened one day. That's all I remember."

Grix climbed the stairs, and entered the room they stayed in when the preacher was nearly hung...

Grix looked on the floor. The laptop was still there.

He looked out the window... the streets were busy now. It was early morning, and all the people were going about their business...

"It's just like it was." Grix said. "Everyone is still alive."

"Well, not technically alive. Just..." Grix's brain tryed to think of the words, but decided he didn't really need to.

"Grix, I didn't bring you back here because I just wanted to show you the town."

Grix turned around.

"I think the Overlord survived."

Grix frowned. "What? How? All our records show that all life was erased after we left his dream."

"Yes. He left his dream, and joined ours."

Grix sat down.

"So when everyone was extracted from the cart, and put back into their own bodies..."

"...There was one that was left without a body." Grix's brain finished.

"Why weren't we told?"

"The computer seperated all the minds into bodies. When it left one, it informed the person that was operating the computer."

"Who was operating the computer?"

"One of the only people that wasn't transferred onto the cart."

---------------

"That sounded pretty cool." Sheepy said. "I wish I could have been there."

"No." Pb said. "Don't ever try to get in Grix's mind. It's too dangerous."

Sheepy laughed. He pulled the blanket over him, and tried to get some rest.

Indeed, his plan was forming. All he could do now was wait until Pb was asleep, and then he would make his escape...

--------------

"You have to be kidding me."

"No joke. Whoever found the Overlords mind decided that he would keep it a secret." Grix's brain looked away. "Not for long, however."

"But why?"

"The only reason I can think of is revenge. Obviously there must be some sort of agreement between the Overlord and Sheepy. I just can't think what."

"Revenge?"

"Grix, you nearly killed the Overlord, and if I refer to the Star Wars story..."

"Oh yeah. I'm Darth Sheepy's unwanted child, aren't I?"

"Correct."

"You know, these stories are really messed up."

"Blame the writers. Not me."

Grix looked at the floor.

"So, where do these cloned Snipers come into it?"

"Well, Darth Sheepy was the one that wanted to clone all the Snipers. He was the only one that knew where they all were. I'm guessing they need Sniper to create an infinite invincible army of Snipers, all as evil as the next."

"That's rather worrying."

"Quite. Fancy a drink?"

The injured Sniper took the other Sniper, and stood him next to him...

"Ah! You can't tell which is which, and you'll have to let me go!"

Grix shot Sniper in the leg again... he fell to the floor.

"Arggghhh... how the hell could you tell?"

"Firstly, you had an arrow sticking out of your leg. Secondly, you are wearing a blue t-shirt. Sniper is wearing a long brown jacket."

Sheepy rubbed his head. "Wow Grix... that's pretty impressive."

"Thanks." Grix smiled.

----------

The bad... well, the Sniper that wasn't the real one, who shall be refered to as the Sniper clone, was tied up.

"Who sent you? What do you want with us?"

"Careful Grix..." Pb said... "This is Sniper, we can't confuse him too much. Speak slower."

"Who, sent, you?"

Sniper sat for a while... and thought...

"I dunno."

Good start.

"Ok, why did he send you then?"

"I was supposed to kidnap you, and that nice looking chap over there."

Sheepy scratched the back of his head, and looked to the floor...

Pb stared at Sheepy... "I think he meant Sniper."

"Why did whoever sent you want me and Sniper?"

"I'm not sure. He said something about some big plan of his... I can't be sure."

"Well, that concludes todays plot advancement. Hopefully, other people may find something to add to the story now."

"Who are you talking to?"

"Err... no-one."

"Grix. I'm worried about you."
