Looking forward to Laguna Seca! :D Can't wait to see Rossi in action again, hopefully battling with Stoner in a similar way to last weekend. And of course my main man Pedrosa taking first :)
Yeah, your man Pedrosa should go well around Laguna Seca and that Honda is looking like a real weapon at the moment.Think Ben Spies could really spring a big surprise as he has raced there many times before in AMA (American Superbikes) and Tech 3 have finally got their hands on some new bits and bobs from this years bike (believed to be mainly engine related) but sadly still no 2010 chassis, which is what I think they really need.Stoner usually goes well around there but I fear Rossi may struggle with his injuries as Laguna Seca a very physical circuit.Knowing him though he'll find some superhuman way of getting himself up there tomorrow !.
Hope Randy De Puniet, comes back soon he's in my fantasy team and I'm on holiday when the next transfer window opens.Knowing him though,he'll just take a couple of paracetamol and fix his broken leg with some twigs and a cable tie !.
Pete's pretty much explained everything you need to know about GPs and he is right, you do get a little bit obsessed by it!
This weekend was pretty good all in all, Rossi did what everyone expected him to do and nearly got on the podium - good to see Stoner giving a bit back and not being grumpy about some 'determined' racing.
Rossi should count himself lucky he didn't come off, unlike James Elison in the BSB who's still nursing a recently broken thigh bone!
Glad that Lorenzo didn't walk away with it as well - as much as he is riding very well I think if he wins this year a fair few people will say it's only due to Rossi being out....
I say if he wins, as he only has a 50ish pt lead, only need a wet race or a dodgy overtake to mix things up a bit - The goat certainly can't win the title, but he can stop Jorge winning it!
MotoGP (and World Superbikes) are the most exciting and interesting sports on the planet. The MotoGP points system and basics are explained pretty well Here .The difference between the 2 series is a Superbike is a racing version of a road going bike (Yamaha R1,Kawasaki Ninja etc.) while a MotoGP bike is a thoroughbred racing machine built solely for the track and these cannot be bought to ride on the road (unless you have a spare half million quid that is!).In MotoGP the teams are divided into factory supported and satellite operations. For example Rossi & Lorenzo's Yamaha M1 is the latest evolution with the latest electronics, chassis etc.,while Ben Spies and Colin Edwards (the black and yellow Tech 3 Yamaha's) are basically last years machines with a few extra bits bolted on here and there. From this year rookie riders can only enter the sport via a satellite team.Team orders are banned,Rossi & Lorenzo actually have a wall dividing their pitwall and do not share any data, once the lights go out its every man for himself. That parts swapping farce that Red Bull did at the British Grand Prix in F1 would never happen in MotoGP or WSBK.The riders are not generally overpaid prima donna's as found in other sports (cough football, cough),they live and breath the sport.Just look at Rossi today riding with one still very broken leg.Unlike in F1 bikes can travel closely together therefore CAN OVERTAKE !!!!!.I have been to a few F1 races and MotoGP events and there is absolutely no contest, the spectacle of MotoGP is quite simply in another league in every possible way.I would never waste my hard earned cash attending an F1 race ever again.I have got my 2 best mates well into the sport (by basically never shutting up about it for the last 8 years !) and neither of them bother with F1 anymore. You would be surprised just how many fans these days do not ride bikes themselves (I don't),but it really doesn't matter as I don't drive a Ferrari or McLaren either !.
Its Laguna Seca next Sunday evening, just check this out from a couple of years ago.
Rossi Vs Stoner Laguna Seca 2008
Even though Rossi's accident has pretty much killed the Championship fight this year, next season will be immense.Start watching now mate so you can follow it next year. One small word of warning though Chris, once you're hooked there's no going back !.Hope this helps ! :)
