Testing, Testing and more testing. Think it's a bit of a cop out really, you don't pay GP ticket prices to watch a test rider sit at the back of the field.
It's great for Yamaha they can develop new ideas etc, but could they really not find anyone else!
There was an interview with Stoner on the BBC coverage where he basically said he couldn't understand people not jumping at the chance to play on Rossi's bike, got to agree really.
Anyway, seems like Pete's on holiday, so did anyone else watch the GP?
Anyone see any truth in the Rossi to Ducati rumour - can't work it out myself. Rossi is very good at manipulating the media so it's as likely to be true as not. Who knows!
Regarding Yoshikawa there's (unsurprisingly) been a lot of discussion about his shock appointment to the FIAT Yamaha squad on other forums and one very interesting question seems to be being asked a lot and that is how can he ride for the works team when he is technically a rookie ? (he has only ever raced in 1 GP).New rules, instigated by Dorna do not allow this (apparently neither Spies nor Crutchlow would have been ''allowed'' to ride the factory bike).I can only assume that Yamaha have picked a rider which the other teams would not object to as they doubt he will be a serious threat ?.Still seems a bit of a joke to me,JT would surely have been a better choice (not a rookie, knows the bike, knows the circuits). He said he would jump at the chance, bit surprised he wasn't asked TBH.
> In what is without doubt the biggest what the fffffff.......moment of 2010 in MotoGP,Yamaha have announced that 41 year old test rider Wataru Yoshikawa will be Rossi's replacement in the factory squad until such time that he returns.
......Seems a little strange, though at least the guy knows the bike....and he'll be no threat to Rossi!

I do, you're right! Roll on payday!

No mate, think it was just you! - you're not bragging are you? I would be!
I really enjoyed all three races this weekend - don't usually catch the Moto2 race, but really enjoyed it - hope Scott Redding continues his progress with the bike.
Thought Spies was very good, but thought Stoner did pretty well considering the start he had. It's not very often you see a bike at the back of the grid make up that many places - I know there were only a few bikes, but it's still impressive.
Stoner still seems to be a bit nervous on cold tyres though.....
Thought de puniet deserved a bit more after qualifying so well, I was expecting him to bin it on the first few laps!

I think on Friday there were only Grandstand tickets left at £130 each, with booking/admin fees - good job the sun was out!
Watched morning warm up from the Maggots,Becketts complex and that was very interesting. The stars through there were De Puniet (wow !),Simoncelli (11/10 for effort) and Spies (smooth, fast, committed and very impressive).Edwards looked horrible through there though, not sure whats going on with him ? and strangely Lorenzo didn't look that fast through there either ?.Watched the race from a grandstand at the South end of the circuit (Stowe,Vale,Club area) which was a great place to watch (there's a big TV there too). The new Vale chicane is a good passing place and you get can get pretty close to the action.Again Spies showed his class there in the race and was mighty on the brakes.Dovi,De Puniet and Hayden's bikes all seemed faster than his from Hangar Straight,Stowe,Vale but Spies just seemed to be pulling about 1.5 bike lengths back on them braking into the chicane (and he seemed to be able to do it pretty much every lap).Goes to show what the guy can do when everyone is thrown in the same situation of not knowing a track. For a performance for a rookie on a satellite bike, have to say I was astounded by the job he did, even though I did feel a tad sorry he nicked Hayden's podium as I like him too !.Real shame Rossi is out as I reckon he would have been the only guy who could have run with Lorenzo yesterday.Great rides by Bradley Smith and in particular Scott Redding, who came from absolutely nowhere in the Moto 2 race to finish a very impressive 4th.Crowd seem to appreciate their efforts anyway.Maybe after England's performances so far in the World Cup they were happy to have something to cheer about !.
On the negative side, the works Suzuki's were embarrassing. It looked like someone had painted a couple of Moto 2 bikes blue and let them chug about at the back of the grid to make the numbers up.They need to sort this out for the sake of the sport and we desperately need more bikes.Without Rossi and Aoyama starting (and Melandri hopping off about a minute from the start) the field looked a little pathetic to be honest. We need about another 10 bikes for next year IMO.There's plenty of guys out there to put on them capable of doing a decent job (a few of the WSBK Brits for a start).Presuming the cost of running a Moto GP team in the current economic climate are really starting to show ?.
Overall it was great event, got to start saving up for next year now ! :)
Understand his reasons for this decision, especially as he has never ridden a GP bike before and it would have given him a schedule of 6 races in 6 consecutive weekends. As its looking like Colin Edwards is going to be subbing for Rossi in the factory squad he would have been riding alongside Spies who may have made him look very average ?.Although on paper he has probably made the correct decision (for him) as a couple of low key races may seriously hamper his chances of getting a GP ride in the future ?,I am still a bit disappointed as I would have been very interested to see what he could do on a GP machine. So,still no Brits in MotoGP this season then unless JT gets the offer ?,might actually make sense seeing as he has ridden the bike before and knows the tracks (another thing Crutchlow may have struggled with ?).Don't know if he burnt his bridges with the Tech 3 team after last season though ?.
