I think Dovi is out of the factory squad regardless next year - they would've had rid of him this year if he hadn't made a fuss about a clause in his contract. Seems a bit harsh really - he's on a par with Pedrosa a least (but doesn't have the big sponsorship potential).
Nice to see the bikes so close together (even if it's for just one race) in the GP, makes for much better viewing.
In some post race interviews Pedrosa was asked why his crash with Hayden in 06 was different to the simoncelli one - apparently his was an accident......(or something like that).
The MCN had a few pictures of Rossi's bike this week (don't think it's online though), one's a before picture with the front of the bike low and the back up, in the other the front looks much higher and the rear much lower - I think their turning problems are a lot worse than they ever thought!
The BSB thing turned out quite well really (for me that is). I missed it on Sunday but recorded it - when I went to watch it on monday I had the first race but the recording cut out before getting to the second. I was most annoyed! Then when I checked and found out it had been cancelled and I get three races at cadwell, I was much happier!
Former WSBK rider Ben Bostrom has been given a wildcard ride for Laguna Seca with LCR Honda. If he manages to beat the under perfoming Toni Elias reckon that will be the end of Elias GP career. Hearing some people questioning if Moto2 is doing as good a job as 250's did as a feeder series seeing it's reigning champion seems to have struggled so badly this year. Don't subscribe to that myself, I fully expect the likes of Bradl, Marquez & Iannone will be just as fast when they get to MotoGP as 250 riders have been in the past.
EDIT : Have a look at this, it's incredible.
Our lad ... Aaron ...
"Aaron put aside his crutches and overcame the pain of a damaged hip to clinch some of his best results this season at the Snetterton 300 round of the British Superbike championships last weekend.
Following his heavy crash at Knockhill and unable to walk unaided the Loughborough rider still found a way to battle his way from 9th/29th on the grid to take 6th Evo and 24th overall in race one, coming out on top of a race long duel with Burrell and Josh Day."
Not a bad w/end :¬)
..... and your 500th post ....
All 3 GP's were good but the 125 Race was epic. Tissot timing goes down to 1000th's of a second and their system gave Zarco & Faubel exactly the same race time. Don't think that has ever happened before in the history of the sport.
After Ducati's weekend from hell at Germany they are apparently taking 8 bikes to Laguna Sega (4x GP 11's & 4 GP 11.1's). Hayden will also be given the chance to choose which bike he wants to race at his home GP, Ducati appear to be throwing everything in their arsenal to try and salvage something from this season. Jeremy Burgess is also planning to attend if he possibly can as they could really use his help at the moment but that guy surely has more important things on his mind at the moment. According to Alex Briggs he says the rear end of the GP11.1 is much improved from that of it's predecessor but it seems to amplify the issues with the front end. He also mentioned that in 11 years in Rossi's garage he has never heard him raise his voice once, even now he is apparently still cool, calm and very methodical but from the outside this bike does seem to have him and his guys stumped at the moment. Briggs insists they WILL sort these problems out but he openly admits he is unsure when they will manage to do this. He also said the GP 11.1 behaves very differently with an 800 motor in it than it does with the 1000, he said the power delivery, engine brake etc. are worlds apart and it's causing them big problems. One final word, thought Bautista was awesome against the red beasts on Sunday, wasn't expecting that.
The championship is closing up nicely at the top now, both Stoner & Dovi have stated that they are fiercely opposed to any kind of Honda team orders. Just what we (and no doubt Lorenzo!) wanted to hear. Thought that was a bit of a strange thing for them to say TBH seeing as they are supposed to be banned in the sport anyway?
Your trip to Cadwell should be really good as it's going to be a triple header due to race 2 at Oulton being cancelled. Nice bit of luck for you there mate, kind of the opposite to what I had!
Just noticed that the next post on this thread will be the 500th, expecting fanfares and fireworks followed by multiple GAD's to be handed out to all contributors.
That would be all 3 of us then! :)
It's a tough one. It would be between Lorenzo, Simoncelli and Rossi.
I'd probably go for Rossi seeing as he's a legend of the sport and I love his personality.
Yeah Rossi is an absolute legend, shame he seems to be having such a hard time on that Ducati at the moment.I suspect Ducati are putting more of their resources behind next years 1000cc bike than the other manufacturers as I think they must realise that they cannot feature in the title race this year.Never write Rossi off though,he has been here before and bounced back.Still reckon he could win a race before the year is out.Realistically his best chance would be in wet/mixed conditions though (and probably after Simoncelli had spectacularly crashed out of the lead!!).
Read on Italian site GPOne that Yamaha's upturn in performance is due to them going back to the 2010 chassis.I take it that would be the one developed by Rossi & Burgess then?
Looks like Toni Elias is on his way out of MotoGP,hasn't worked out at all for the reigning Moto2 champion this year.
