Okay, how about this. For a small fee (we're talking a low low price here) a month, you get a number of small perks on the site (edit posts etc.) but the main draw is you get your own forum, and the only people that can post in it are decided by you. So no more spamming fools coming in and messing up your cultured discussion of the Iraq situation/boobs.

Obviously there'd be other perks too, but it's just an idea floating around in my head? Anyone interested?

I'd do it. I can afford it.

I wouldn't pay.

Much as the lure of free games and good chat are here, I just cannot afford any more outgoings, and I'd imagine many of the younger types here couldn't either.

If it came complete with an @specialreserve.co.uk e-mail address, a registered domain and free hosting, perhaps I could be persuaded to pay for using the forums.

Not sure how many others would though.

Anyhow, here's a fantastic idea (Snuggly gets the credit for thinking of ideas to increase revenue for SR in the first place):

SR have a lot of equipment in stock.
Equipment that it would be simple for the company to appropriate as stock for company use.
(Here comes the high flying high risk entrepeneurial big bucks bit...)
SR go into Software Publishing!

Think about it:

You've already got the ukgames.com domain.
There's hundreds of software titles out there that are never snatched up for European release each year.
Your marketing bods KNOW what sells from all the data you've built up over the years.
You've got the equipment to mass produce games inhouse, and if you haven't it's not really a big step to get hold of that equipment.
So you carefully select games that only got a US/JAP release, pay for the licence and PAL conversion...

Imagine: The 'Special Reserve Label' of budget priced games, exclusive to SR...

$$$ Kerching! $$$

Charge 10p for every 100 words hosted. Ant would owe you £1261.29.

Hmm, this didn'[t go down too well, did it? I meant for it to be a bit like a Hotmail account, where you can write all your stories and keep any interesting stuff you don't want to get lost in the other forums. Still, just an idea.

I feel there would be these problmes:

A) It might create way too many, sparsely populated forums
B) This would then turn into a few, densely populated (like now) forums, that would be 'run' by certain memebers.....dunno why, but I think thats a bad idea. The Inner Party.
C) If people had their own, less restricted forums, the free ones might fall away, and...create the Outer Party, of people clinging on in large numbers to forums.
D)New members, either good or bad, would populate this like the proles, deterred by cots.

Hierachy system from 1984? Damn good book......

What a rubbish post.

Haven't read the whole lot, but I think that Notables should be given Admin powers in the Life forum.

Sorted.
