Firsty, check you don't already have the sword. I did that first time I had that quest. Spent ages looking for it, and then finally worked out that I'd nabbed it on my first run, without realising :)

If you can't do the locks with the masters lockpick, you'll need to either:

1) Get your security skill up, either by training or opening other locks
2) Get a spell which will open it. Unlikely your thief will be able to cast it though...
3) Give up and come back later

There is a Secret Masters lockpick around which may help, and a Skeleton key too. Would be a spoiler to tell you how to get hold of them though.

I'm a bit stuck. Went to Ald'ruhn and got a quest from the thieves guild. I have to steal a sword from the mages guild.

Unlocked everything I can, and can;t find it!

There's a few chests left locked, but with a Masters Lockpick it says that the lock is too complex and I can't open it :-(

Any tips?

The thing about reflect is that it's hideously expensive to put on constant effect in terms of enchant points. Even on something like a deadric tower shield, which holds 180 enchant points, you won't get higher than about 5/6% for your constant effect, and it will still cost you upwards of 150k. It doesn't really seem worth it.

Thanks for the suggestions.

I already have a Daedric Claymore which is very powerful.
I have an enchanted belt which boosts my athletics attribute - constant effect.
I'm level 33.

I was thinking of enchanting a robe with a constant effect "reflect spell".
What d'you think?
I can't do anything just yet because I haven't enough Gold.

I've been playing Morrowind like a man possessed since release. I do have a lot of time on my hands at the moment though. It's the most engrossing game I've ever played.

Depends what level you are really...

Bound effects are all very well, but I tend to think they're a waste of enchant space. If you have something to bound a deadric longsword, not only do you have to wear that item, but also weild that bound longsword. That's two pieces of equipment you're using. If on the other hand, you get hold of a genuine deadric longsword, not only can you enchant it, but you also no longer need the item you set to bind it. A couple of decent enchantments there will more than make up for the ten points in longsword and the extra weight - neither of which make any big difference if you are a high level.
