You think you're so smart with your nice new GameCubes. Happy with them are you? I know you are, you've told us enough times. Especially "Oooh, this controller is fantastic, it's much better than all the other controllers I've used".

Bollards.

Why can't you see it's exactly the same as the DualShock 2 but with less features? Let's run through this:

· D-pad - check
· Two analog sticks - check
· Four main buttons - check
· Shoulder buttons - check
· Rumble - nope
· Full analog on ALL buttons - nope
· 4 shoulder buttons - nope
· Analog sticks as sensitive as the DualShock 2 - nope
· Ability to drop for storeys and still work perfectly - nope

Excuse me if I'm wrong but surely if it's the SAME shape with the SAME layout but with less functions, that makes it worse? Oh no, sorry, I'm missing out the facts that it's purple and made by Nintendo, that automatically makes it far superior, I'm terribly sorry.

I dare any of you to prove to me that the GameCube controller is better than the DualShock 2 - and saying that "it's more comfortable" is a cop-out.

Each to their own! (As could be said about most of this thread!)

It really depends on the game. Something like a fighting game, yes it's irrelevant, because something vibrating in your hand doesn't resemble being smacked in the face.

However, with something like GT3 - where it is used perfectly - it can provide supreme feedback. The use of sound and the DualShock in GT3 gives a great feeling of when you are about to lose control of a vehicle, with either side of the pad vibrating more and more as the wheels slide away.

It's so subtle it's almost unnoticable, but I tried turning it off once and it changed the game for the worse.

Isn't the rumble feature the most useless feature ever created though? I think it's total rubbish, and have it turned off for every game...

Indeed. My only problem with it is that it's a single motor located in the centre of the pad. So while it does rumble, it can't provide the same level of feedback as the DualShock.

Been a bit slow here as I've only just got my conection back at work, but the last time I looked the GC pad definatley has Rumble built in... albeit due to it's size the motors are smaller than the PS2's but it definately has built in Rumble...

Anyway..t hat's my bit on the subject...

"IGN64 takes a look at the sound software powering Nintendo's next-generation console."

Software.

This is middleware. And they don't make games.

What's the distribution medium?

"Place this disc inside your Xbox, it makes it better?"

"Download this software and run it on your Xbox it makes it better?"

I don't think the Xbox even HAS the ability to browse the 'net. Didn't Microsoft say they wanted users to do that on their PCs? (Runing the latest and "greatest" Windows system no doubt).

One word, MusyX, made by a games developer... not a collection of blokes who don't make games such as the makers of dual shock.
