The "Sony Games" forum, which includes Retro Game Reviews, has been archived and is now read-only. You cannot post here or create a new thread or review on this forum.
I am referring to these very forum. In the recent months it became flooded with pointless spam and one word replies. Things totally got outof hand in the past 4 weeks or so. All decent topics were flushed down the list and they were replaced by things like "Can you wait for MGS2?". Maybe some of you regard these forums as a place to chat liek you would chat with your mates in school. Some use text language, things like brb gr8 and wot? Why that laziness?
I have been especially concerned with the fact that people who spend long times writing their topics simply do not get the credit they deserve. This is due to the relative lack of feedback from many of you. Once a person sees a long post, they think to themselves-"Nah I cant be bothered to read all that" abd start spamming.
Some of us even think that every long post is a GAD attempt and therefore does not reflect on the writer's feelings and emotions.
As Pro Evo said in the Longest Thread, many of people who are writing long, worth-a-read topics cannot be credited for anything just because seconds after a post is written it is beaten by hordes of MGS2 and GTA3 posts.
I do not want to be a big-head but to be honest in the last few weeks this forum only had 3-4 people post good posts that were actually interesting to read-Pro Evo, SSX Pro, Wookiee Monster and me. Now I am not trying to say my or anyone elses posts are sheer class, but I dont think anyone can argue that there has been hardly no people who posted long thought-provoking posts.
So could we just stop this spam and try and get this forum back ot its feet. AFter all this is one of the most-visited places on SR...And what kind of example are we setting here???
Anyway, I have spoken.....
Yep I know it's been asked for before and it will no doubt be asked for again - maybe sometime in the future - who knows ..
I liked your idea about getting rid of the number of posts, word thing by the way to become a regular but to just stick a number of days thing wouldn't work. I registered months ago but only recently started chatting. I would have become a regular without a single post. Maybe it should be a combination of something like 50 posting days. I.e. you need to post on 50 seperate occassions. This would mean that people would have to come here regulary to become a regular but would mean they dont have to spam to achieve it.
The other way to stop some of the mad spammers - Yes you know who you are - would be to get rid of the top 100 posters list - If they cant see the figure it wouldnt matter to them.

You don't deserve any credit when you copy articles from other websites and try to pass them off as your own...(see "Gender Gaming)
So don't get on your high horse and complain about other people doing bad posts.
Some of you lot asked before to split Sony forum into Sony Prime and Sony Chat, and they said no.
Perhaps you should just have better control over your newbies? Give a real verbal beating when they post utter rubbish.
They'll soon learn...
Usual thing - people getting fed up with all the spam postings and talking about what to do about it etc.
Do we get SR to split the forum into chat and prime like fog or do they ban JAT's from posting et al.
You were mentioned cos of your life love sport and footbal gripe yesterday.
That will do - If you want to know it all read away.
We also want to keep it at the top so people will read it and take note..
The forum needs to be split into Sony -
> PS1 & PS2 Prime and Sony PS1 & PS2 Chat.
SR - you are reading this
> -- SORT IT OUT !!!!!!
Unfortunately, I think this would go the same way as FOG, hardly anyone would go in Prime
> There is now 4 GTA3 topics in the top 10 of this forum, so how about this idea - one topic for one game ? Any questions are more likely to be answered if there is one place for anything concerning that game, again the problem remians of getting people to use them !
We've tried doing that with "Official Topic of XXXX game" threads but it seems these new threads are all being started by people who have only just got the game and who obviously can't be bothered to trawl back through the previous post to find what they're looking for.
In this situation I do feel sorry for them, try and find the nearest GTA3 thread that's not on this page, doesn't contain loads of spam and has a decent amount of information contained in it.
You'll be there for a while.....oh if you find any you could always pop 'em to the top for these newbies!
The way things are going, in a few months time while we're all playing FFX and discussing tactics and gameplay etc there will be new topics about MGS2 probably from the same people again who just can't be bothered to go back and search.
I have no idea how this is going to be solved, perhaps some patience or some gentle nudges in the right direction, along the lines of "try looking back in the previous posts, all the information you'll ever need is back there"
That includes how to fly the bloody Dodo for the umpteenth time!
