So Yankees, as always busy around deadline day and were quite successful. Abreu and Lidle for a bunch of minor league prospects of which only Smith looks half decent. Don't know too much about Lidle to be honest but Abreu will give another strong bat and some experienced coverage for Sheffield while he's out injured (and more than likely replace him for next season) Also picked up Craig Wilson for Chacon to give us another strong bat. Had him in my MVP Baseball 2005 team as well actually. Might mean Andy Phillips doesn't get as much time as he should though which is a shame.
Red Sox and Jays did nothing and we kept hold of Cano, Melky and Phillips so a good trade deadline time all around for the Yanks
I thought Ichiro deserved the MVP and although they tried their best to lose it, the AL were the deserved winners.
Inside the park homer eh? Quite an achievement usually but especially at SBC Park, though it did take a very weird bounce. Me thinks the NL is cursed in All Star games :-D
JUICEDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDD :-D
It wasn't really a home run park but some of the home runs were huge shots.
Vlad hits 3 HR's in the final round. Longest shot: 435ft
No golden ball home runs so that's $254,000 to charity, which is nice.
Only 1 HR went in the bay and there was a 2nd ball that went in but that was foul. All the left handers were just trying too hard I think.
Rios = 5 from Round 1 + 12 from Round 2 = 17 HR's. Longest shot in Round 2: 454ft.
Vlad = 5 from Round 1 + 9 from Round 2 = 14 HR's. Longest shot in Round 2: 503ft.
Pujols = 4 from Round 1 + 9 from Round 2 = 13 HR's. Longest shot in Round 2: 459ft.
At my last count, there was another 9 golden ball home runs. At $17,000 a ball, that's $153,000 to add to the $51,000 from Round 1. That's $204,000 but I think they've added $50,000. Maybe it was because Rios hit 5 in a row. $254,000 was the total they were showing.
The final is between Rios and Vlad.
That 503ft shot was an absolute monster.
Morneau = 4 HR's in the first round. Longest shot: 430ft
Holliday = 5 HR's in the first round. Longest shot: 462ft
Magglio Ordonez = 2 HR's in the first round. Longest shot: 422ft
Pujols = 4 HR's in the first round. Longest shot: 435ft
Alex Rios = 5 HR's in the first round. Longest shot: 427ft
Fielder = 3 HR's in the first round. Longest shot: 423ft
Vlad Guerrero = 5 HR's in the first round. Longest shot: 463ft
Howard = 3 HR's in the first round. Longest shot: 477ft
Holliday, Rios and Vlad through. Morneau and Pujols in a 5 swing off. Morneau = 1 HR, Pujols = 2 HR's in 2 swings and goes through.
Great fun so far. 3 Golden Ball HR's in the first round, worth $51,000 for charity.
They've been sorting it out for a while now. The only person I've seen ejected was Bautista for Seattle but I can't see why. Blanton was ejected too.
