Or as it is otherwise known - The MLB Thread

So Yankees, as always busy around deadline day and were quite successful. Abreu and Lidle for a bunch of minor league prospects of which only Smith looks half decent. Don't know too much about Lidle to be honest but Abreu will give another strong bat and some experienced coverage for Sheffield while he's out injured (and more than likely replace him for next season) Also picked up Craig Wilson for Chacon to give us another strong bat. Had him in my MVP Baseball 2005 team as well actually. Might mean Andy Phillips doesn't get as much time as he should though which is a shame.

Red Sox and Jays did nothing and we kept hold of Cano, Melky and Phillips so a good trade deadline time all around for the Yanks

Well got to my first ever final table (at least for cash anyway, i've done it once before in just a qualifying thing).

After 6 hours i finished 2nd and ended up with 35 dollars. Woo hoo. That can pay for my mobile top up earlier this month.

Yeah, the blinds go so high that you have to get stupidly reckless with garbage and hope you don't get called.

The Yankees really need to be within 3 games when Boston play the Yankees. That would make the series really tense.

Yea i know why they've done it, still annoying though :-D

I just got ebbed away by the blinds by the end, didn't get any decent hands at all to play, was all junk like 8 3 off suit

They do that to stop all the players delibrately slow playing. That way, it is pointless to waste time as you play the same amount of hands as everyone else.

Rocked the poker tournaments today on Bet365. 221st out of 10,000 odd in the $500 freeroll netting me another 75 cents and in the $365 freeroll i finished 28th out of 3037 players netting me $2.50. So 4 bucks in 2 days, not too shabby, i've finished in the money in 3 out of 3 tournies.

The second tournament was the weirdest tournament i've ever played in though. For the first hour and a half it seemed like only half the field were playing, i was on 3 separate tables where only me and another guy were playing and the rest were auto folding. Of course once i got rid of the other guy on each table i got moved again so was unable to take advantage of stealing the blinds from those non-players.

Quite annoying how the game keeps stopping the tournament when it gets to one place off a new bracket of cash waiting for the tables to all finish up their hands though

Well, that's just typical. I haven't played in a couple of weeks and they drop the regular freeroll prize fund from $1000 to $500.

it was a $500 freeroll on bet365. I don't really like the software they use, the interface is very poor and hard to read, the FullTilt Poker one is much better, however Bet365 have far more freeroll tournies with better prizes and it's easier to get into the pay bracket. I've played alot on FTP and not won anything, this was my 3rd Tournie on 365

Nice work. What tournament was it?

Yankees with the sweep although Rivera almost blew it. He was missing the plate by a bit and his cutter was moving a lot more than usual.
