Or as it is otherwise known - The MLB Thread

So Yankees, as always busy around deadline day and were quite successful. Abreu and Lidle for a bunch of minor league prospects of which only Smith looks half decent. Don't know too much about Lidle to be honest but Abreu will give another strong bat and some experienced coverage for Sheffield while he's out injured (and more than likely replace him for next season) Also picked up Craig Wilson for Chacon to give us another strong bat. Had him in my MVP Baseball 2005 team as well actually. Might mean Andy Phillips doesn't get as much time as he should though which is a shame.

Red Sox and Jays did nothing and we kept hold of Cano, Melky and Phillips so a good trade deadline time all around for the Yanks

Blasted Vizcaino, never makes it easy. Good start from Kennedy though, better than the Moose, a little jittery with a couple of unearned runs but otherwise a fine debut.

Sweeeeeeeeeeep

Not too sure what Francona was banging on about, Youkilis was on the infield grass to avoid A-Rod's tag, of course he ran out of the basepath.

Cy Wang does it again, and Cano was quite handy with the bat. Joba also keeps on dominating, and almost dominated Youkilis' helmet with a couple of 98mph fastballs.....ouch :-D

A sweep and a shut out in game 3. It was the perfect series for the divisional race as it just makes Boston look over their shoulder.

Yea me to, i'd have liked to see him replace Mo when he finally goes but i guess if he can pitch 6-7 innings of that stuff then it's better to have him in the starting rotation

You can't help but feel sorry for the guy. It looked like he really wanted to help the team but was really unhappy that he couldn't do that.

Couldn't believe the commentary when they said Chamberlain would probably be a starter next season. Apparently he was a starter in the minors. I thought he had the mental attitude to be quite the ruthless closer.

Yup Cy Wang vs bloody sock boy, should be a chance to break out the brooms.

Moose put down and Mistahhhhhhh............. Kennedyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy........................ Kennedy....(Ian Kennedy :-D) brought in. Can't say i'm too disappointed in that move, especially after that interview Mussina did, totally looks dejected, not someone you want in your team in September

Yep, the Yankees really should have been long gone with all those baserunners that they left but it was a good performance by Clemens and a deserved victory.

Schilling V Wang I think tonight. Boston do rely heavily on Ortiz and Manny, so with Manny out, they need someone to step up. It didn't happen last night. They only had 4 hits all game.

Wooo that's 2 for 2, good ol Clemens despite Farnsworth trying his best to screw it up. Mo reliable against the Sox for once.

Wang up next and Joba should be prowling around to. Sweep them scummers!!!

Yup a fastball that WILL hit triple digits (99mph one to Drew i believe last night) and a slider that is just flat out NASTY (again to Drew hehe) just makes him an absolute monster, i know i wouldn't like to face him. He also seems unfazed, anyone who goes straight after Vlad with heaters is someone with confidence, especially encouraging from a rookie. He could be a star for a very long time, 10 innings and 17 k's with no runs allowed is awesome for a guy just starting. We'll see how he does against Boston on Thursday i believe if he's needed.

I think the commentators had a good point. It does look like they grooming Chamberlain to take over the closer role when Rivera vacates that position. He's certainly got the stuff that is difficult to hit.

It was a tight game and the starters both went over 100 pitches. Damon's home run was the clincher as Boston had to go through Chamberlain and Rivera to win.
