I know this is in the wrong forum, but i could not post it in the one i wanted cos i'm a newbie. Anyway i'd like to know what peoples views are on the violence and adult content in the games that are around now. My belief is that if they continue going the way they are going in the next few years we're going to have some seriously sick games on the market, this is not a complaint though the point i'm trying to get through is that most of the violence today is blamed on computer games. It only takes one irresponsible teen to do something stupid then their parents blame it on the computer games industry but it's probably that the child is very sick in the head. Personally iv'e never played on a computer game then gone and shot somebody.

Hey if violence was only on games but it isnt its on the satellite, cable, freeview, real life, hackers, pornographic channels.

The law cant stop people from downloading free games, movies and software for mobiles and pc.

The main problems.

1- The media always look for a scapegoat and games fit into this frame perfectly, especially for readers of the Daily Express, as they distract kids from sport etc.

2- Adults will buy violent games for kids because they don't at all realise how much games have come on since the relatively basic ones they played at a young age.

3- Ignorance. Too many people are only concerened with issues that relate only to them, and not the wider picture.

The media jump at any violence that has any part realated to videogames.
e.g. the "manhunt" murder the kid had a copy of the game and was addicted to it or something, and his parents blamed it on that, so did the media, the media went soo insane that dixons stopped selling it. It was not till like 2 weeks later, that they found out, the game was owned by the kid he killed, and he had hardly played it.
If you ask me, I think it is the Television and movies that are the most violent. The games just take the blame.

I suppose violence is the key in most games, without gore, it just wouldn't be... Silent Hill for example
But last time I checked there was a certificate, so people under that age shouldn't play 'em! Not everyone believes gore in a game is real, many people now know it is just good animating.

Violence in Games is great, I think that's all that needs to be said. If you don't like violence in games, don't play em.

What killing people with guns, glass shards, bricks and decaputating people and other such things isn't "adult themed"? :S

The thing is, violence is not automatically adult. Manhunt has plenty of violence in it, but it's not 'adult' - it's about as adult as running around shouting 'willy wee bum bums'. Adult means 'adult themes' such as those found in Silent Hill 2.

Over the years I've become very jaded after many bad experiences with customer services, you have bucked the trend. Polite and efficient from the Freeola team, well done to all involved.
