I'ma bit nervous
The journey from my house to my cousin' has got to be one of the worst I could possibly do, with all those sharp-corners, narrow-roads, and lorry's shooting past you at every-turn!
And my dad didn't help things either - waiting untill we'd almost passed the turning be for telling me to "turn-left, here" - just like how he drives! And then he's grabbing the handbake and trying to do the gears for me - just getting in my way and p-ing-me-off, really -- like he does EVERY-time I decide to go out for a drive, with him!!
Aside from all that, and the fact that I stalled twice turning-right thanks to his commands: "Okay, go... No! Wait! Stop!!" in the middle of the turn; I didn't really do too-badly.
It just feels so-wierd trying to do things without power-steering, after learning in a Polo...
I've gotta have my first MOT test next-week, also - and the current tax-thingy runs-out TODAY. Thank god (..sort of...)!
> I don't enjoy it that much now
Heh, its a downward spiral from here.
I don't enjoy it that much now
It's because I drive to fast on the approach to a junction of roundabout, meaning I never have enough time to change-gear or to even assess the situation around me - meaning I could often be the cause of traffic-congestion in Bristol, if I passed my test, now.
He always seem kind of... "edgy", like he's about to jump, and grab the dash-board or steering-wheel suddenly, like he's scared....
My lesson didn't go too badly today, though. Only did some driving around up by The Mall, and went round an endless number of roundabouts, over-and-over again. He joked I'll be dreaming about nothing but them, tonight. :)
But he says my driving - in general - is coming-along nicely! :)
Even though I appear to have little-or-no respect for the speed-limits along the roads, or what potentially-dangerous hazards may lie-ahead.
> Har har, Tom pooped his pants...
Yes, yes he did.
Let's just say, it's a good job I decided to wear my lucky jeans after all!
Now the hard part is learning to drive my mom's Micra for the first time- my instructer's car was a new Fiesta and it is a completely different driving experience- no power steering on the Micra for a start! On my first proper drive out I nearly crashed the car- Tóm was with me and I think he was bricking it sitting in the back whilst I caused chaos on the road!!
Found out that Burnout 2's having a real effect on my driving, after racing-around at 10mph-over the speed-limit in most areas!
But I still slam the brakes on when I see a speed-camera. :)
Infact, I did a lot of brake-slamming, today, as we finally got around to doing some Emergency Stops. Glad to see Burnout is helping me on something, though, as I seem to be pretty damn good at doing these - better than most people are first-time around, anyway.
He's got a new gear-stick for his car now, too (presumabley, after a helped "damage" the old one by yanking the thing about too-hard!).
It's nice. And I find it a lot easier to use (...and harder to brake, too).
On the way back home, coming down the road I live on, some idiot-man decided to walk out onto the road, right infront of me!!
As inconvenient as it was, it was also very convenient, as I had the chance to do an Emergency Stop - for real - on a real road!
But I didn't, and instead decided to shoot-past him, and onwards toward my house! :)
I also shot straight-forwards through a roundabout a 30mph without even properly looking around me! :D
Damn you Burnout!! I can't stop playing! :S
:D
