They dont have quotas, if you show the neccessary standard then you will pass.

Its a well known fact that they have quotas.
Doubt they'd tell you though.

Is this speculation, or did they actually tell you that?

He was still driving you on the 5th lesson? Are you a slow learner?

I took my car test at 20, had 4 lessons, failed the first time due to the dsa already meeting their quota of passes for the day, had another 2 lessons and passed with no errors.

But then I had been riding motorbikes for 4 years....

Just don't ever forget that driving is not a right, it's a responsibility. When you're looking for cars at junctions, look for bikes too as they aren't always push bikes and they are always going faster than you think.

Driving isn't quite as easy as it looks. To actually keep-going, and to do things like turning and that with all the gear-changing makes it slightly harder than it looks. But once you get around the basics, you'll be fine - if you have the confidence.

What I don't reckon you should do is just start driving as soon as your turn 17, just for the sake of it. Unless of course you feel that you are ready and willing to learn to drive now.
I could've started about 11-months-ago, but I didn't really quite feel ready yet, so I waited unill this year, when I felt more 'ready'. But I still think I waited perhapsa bit too long, and at times I do say to myself: "I wish I'd have started learning when I first had the chance!"

But you shouldn't do it just to be "cool", it's serious stuff!

I had my 5th lesson yesterday, and I made a bit of a mess of it in some places. Stalled once for the third-straight lesson on starting up (I bring the clutch up way-too-fast you see), and later went on to do some more rondabouts, and to then pass some different crossings.
That was all pretty simple and fun stuff (well, the roundabouts are), but I still don't quite get them... I got to one mini-roundabout, stopped to give-way to this other car, but my instructor was telling me not to stop, but to keep-on-going...?!?!

I came quite close to hitting a dog, too. He said "Watch-out for that dog over there..." and I said "What dog??". But luckily, I just saw it in-time. I also almost hit some idiots crossing infront of me down a one-way street of shoppers, and someone I know from school p'd-me-off by crossing infront of me without even looking!

But I'm enjoying the lessons, and my confidence of eventually passing first-time in the practical is increasing. But I do ALL the drive next-lesson; from start, to finish! Usually, he just drives me somewhere, then I drive the rest of the way. :S

I can not wait to start driving, it seems really fun, and looks easy, but lots of people say its not like that atall...
Like celebrity driving school, they all suck, yet it looks so easy...

Yep, should have at least been going 60mph, what were you thinking? ;-)

I drive because I have to.
