My first in about an hour

In the space of 20 minutes I'd gone from not knowing how to start the car to driving through roundabouts and parking in bus stops

That's all that matters.
You took enough lessons to be able to pass 1st time, therefore you are a good driver.

I passed first time.

After about 80 lessons.

But I passed first time.

The one where you drive sensibly and normally and pass first time.
With the head examiner at Loughton being the examiner.

It's not difficult after lessons, and if you fail then you weren't paying attention or are too stupid be driving.
Shame there isn't a "Parenting Test" as well really.

Or you could not be crap and pass the test.

I'm sure you can buy/get anything you want illegaly but it's just that driving licences exchange hands for about £30 each

If you know who to speak to, you can shell out £350-£400 for a driving license over here. Certain people I'm "aquainted" with will do this as they have contacts working at the DVLA. It's a simple matter of taking a passport photo and entering your details on their system.

However, for that much money, you're better off learning - at least you won't be a danger to other roads users.

In Egypt, it's common practise to buy a driving licence :-P

Yeah - I've driven in Pakistan before. No license, insurance or anything needed. Just watch out for slow villagers!
