I'ma bit nervous
He was made to pay about £300 just for the tiny bit of wall that he wrecked...
Only mistake being I went through a roundabout at 30mph
I'm dead chuffed! :D
And I didn't even stall once, either! :)
But I did stall towards the start of the lesson, after I'd pulled-over so he could show me about Roundabouts and stuff, before I "tackled" them.
I never though driving around a Roundabout could be so fun...
You just go round, and around, and around... I love it! :D
But on the first Small one, I drove straight-over the circle, carelessly. :)
He keeps nagging me 'cause I don't change-gear soon-enough, though.
You can hear the engine roaring away while I'm still in 1st! :S
And I'm sure I almost took another passing car's wing-mirror off, as we shot-past each other... It seemed like I'd only JUST missed it - because the mirror on that bigger car was higher than the one on the Polo.
But he was 10-minutes-late at the start of the lesson... Pah! :P
I drove home on my 2nd lesson
I rule
I was excellent but hit the curb(sp) twice and also nearly turned left at a roundabout when I signalled right but heh I drove home
22 lessons!
Go me!
I nearly hit someone today, I pulled out at a junction as they were turning right. It would have worked if he hadn't had come right onto the wrong side of the road before turning. I pulled away from hitting him...
No crashes yet!
Yay!
I did stall once, for the second-straight lesson, but after all those left-and-right-turns I feel I'm really getting the hang of it, and my confidence is starting to go up to, making me feel like I might pass the Practical Test (when it comes...) first-time, after all.
Just as long as I get my positioning right, first!
Yep, I still stray from the centre of the lane at times, and this time I kept flying out the the right! Usually, I'm stay in too-close to the left, and end driving through parts of the bushes, and onto the bad parts of the road. But as he usually tells me to move to the right a little, I thought I'd try and do things differently, this time. But instead, I ended up on the right.
Heh, he even joked and asked me if I was French, or if I had some kind of Europen blood in me! :D
But he said I did well for the lesson in general. With my turning, anyway.
I didn't have the confidence to drive ALL the way home though, along a road that is often used by big Quarry lorries, and people getting to the Airport, and others cutting between A roads a top-speed. Maybe nextime...
Next lesson's on Wednesday.
But make sure you know that it is you who's driving, and that you aren't being partially assisted by your instructor, with his set of pedals on his side.
I had my second lesson on Tuesday, and I don't think that that one went too badly either. I started off with some more "basic" driving. Going down a fairly straight road, with one-or-two bends where I needed to beep in-time, and also I few cars to overtake. I didn't go driving into the hedge or anything, and managed to maintain a good speed. Untill it came to changing gears...
That's where I'm bad, at the moment. I can't change something in the car while in motion. My mind goes through a process like Homer Simpsons' - seriously! I sit there, and start talking to myself, in my head, accidentally ignoring my instructor's advice and help. I think "OK... Time to find the Clutch.... Where's the Clutch? Where'd it go now??" And the by the time I've found it, I could've changed the gear, just like any normal driver! But aside from things like that, it's going fine. Quite better that I thought it would, actually.
I also did some left-turns aswell, and I wasn't too bad with those. The only problem I had was that I either turned it too-sharply (forgetting about the power-steering) or not-sharply-enough (thinking power-steering is actually more effective than it really is).
But I'm sure I'll get used to it soon.
I have a problem with brining the Clutch back up and finding that "bite" with the Gas as you push that back down, slowly. I do it too slowly, that's my problem. And I even stalled once by getting it wrong... somehow! But I did it all really smoothly and sharply, just once, and that really made me chuffed, and impressed my instructor.
I'm really getting into these lessons now!
Shame I have to wait a full-7-days at the moment untill my next one. :(
He keeps asking me for the money I haven't given him yet, too... :)
