Hi Guys,Been experiencing a problem when trying to receive my emails (since last night).Just get the following message :

A time-out occurred while communicating with the server. Account: 'mail.freeola.net', Server: 'mail.freeola.net', Protocol: POP3, Port: 110, Secure(SSL): No, Error Number: 0x800CCC19

Anyone else getting this?

13:50: Service Status page still saying "Update 11:00
Pop service has now been restored. Please note however there may be some downtime during this afternoon as mail flow resumes"
No emails have arrived since 06:12 (I'm using the freeola webmail interface as I'm at work currently) and all I get is a popup box saying "Can't connect to POP3 server, check POP3 server settings".
I'm waiting for an urgent email from a Solicitor, very frustrating.

Don't worry it's not just you - looks like the server has been taken down at the moment.

I'm thinking of giving up IT and trying something else! :¬(
Not a good start to the week...

if anyone is getting emails I think it would help if they post here - at least we would get an idea that maybe some servers are up? if, of course that's the issue

If this helps.....this is the present error message:

"The connection to the server has failed. Account: '*********', Server: 'mail.freeola.net', Protocol: POP3, Port: 110, Secure(SSL): No, Socket Error: 10060, Error Number: 0x800CCC0E"

Socket error would seem to indicate 'authentication' again?

An hour on... 12.52 and I'm still unable to received email... despite a status report saying:

"Update 11:00 ~ Pop service has now been restored. Please note however there may be some downtime during this afternoon as mail flow resumes, and as engineers look into to why service was lost."

My last email was received at 07.46 this morning.

The only reason I know I've received an order is because I have now paid for and set up my cart to send me a mobile text message informing me of new orders.

Would welcome a status update if only to appease this increasingly frustrated freeola customer. Please!

Ha ha Hmmm, the thought had just crossed my mind! I have 'double-checked' them via telephone but I'm just about to go and physically check them too....knowing 'sons' as I do :¬)

My my, seems to have become very active within this thread :¬)

@Butch and Hmmm....

Checked son's settings....he's a good lad....all correct. Sending reported a 10060 error ie authentication. Checked smtp port and changed from 25 to 2025. Low and behold....Freeola we have lift off! All's now working, even during present 'upset' :¬)

I'm not getting that error message. As at 11.52 I'm still getting

Task 'mail.freeola.net - Receiving' reported error (0x800CCC0F) : 'The connection to the server was interrupted. If this problem continues, contact your server administrator or Internet service provider (ISP).'

Even though the status page says service has been restored, (albeit with further downtime anticipated this afternoon) I have still not received a test message I sent to myself at 11.14hrs.

Of course, with mail flow resumed I'm now wondering when any emails that may have been sent to me between 9 and say noon are actually going to arrive.

I think it's in Freeola's interest to fix ASAP so I'm not worrying about going through T&C etc

Interesting new error message on attempting to get emails:

"The RETR command did not succeed. Error retrieving a message. Mail server mail.freeola.net responded: Can't open the message file - it's gone!"

just hoping this doesn't mean emails are genuinely lost during the outage as I know I have 1 incoming from paypal which I would like to have as a record

Also, it's notable that there's a link to the Terms & Conditions on the Service Status page; just had a look.
Clause 7.1 reads:
"We will at all times endeavour to provide high quality and reliable Freeola Services but do not warrant that Freeola
Services will be interruption or error-free or that the transmission of data through the Freeola Services will be
secure. You agree that any such interruption will not constitute a breach of this agreement by Us."

So, hard luck chaps!

I think we also need a full technical explanation from freeola with details of the causes and reasons, the steps they've taken to rectify the faults, the reason the fault(s) keep reappearing and the steps thy're putting in place to ensure it remains fixed.
Not too much to ask?
Plus, a full apology with no caveats for not getting on top of this and fixing it earlier.

Over the years I've become very jaded after many bad experiences with customer services, you have bucked the trend. Polite and efficient from the Freeola team, well done to all involved.
Just a quick note to say thanks for a very good service ... in fact excellent service..
I am very happy with your customer service and speed and quality of my broadband connection .. keep up the good work . and a good new year to all of you at freeola.
