Microsoft, by way of announcing its Xbox strategy for Christmas in the UK, has revealed today that there will be no immediate axe taken to the retail price of the console before 2004.
Expectations were high following Nintendo's slashing of GameCube to £79.99 that Microsoft would follow with a price cut of its own prior to Christmas, especially since Nintendo's machine has begun to outsell the Xbox for the first time in months (2 to 1).
However, Microsoft has instead chosen to place its yuletide hopes in a bundle that features the console, Halo and Midtown Madness 3 and a voucher for two months' subscription to Xbox Live. This Xbox bundle will retail for £139.99, on shelves from today.
Industry watchers will be following Sony's, Nintendo's and Microsoft's Christmas fortunes in the UK closely, in particular the clash between GameCube and Xbox.
While Sony is in an unassailable position and likely to do very well with EyeToy this Christmas, Nintendo is looking stronger than it has for some time, sales likely to be driven further by the arrival of Mario Kart: Double Dash!! on November 14. Let the battle commence.
Hmmmm exciting.
I love SEGA... not as much as Nintendo and I am a proud owner of a Dreamcast.
But I got that after it had failed.
And I owned the Megadrive when I was a mere casual gamer and played whatever my Dad brought home from work.
Difference.
I don't remember that Comic Zone. So it is new to me. But still, what have you played in the 8 years since the demise of the Mega Drive that has been like VJ? And why is the personification of Nintendo admitting to having played a Sega console?

Read what I wrote and explain to me how this changes a thing but only enhances my point further?

You mean Viewtiful Joe has?
How can a company that has produced 5 alright games, 1 crap game and 1 superb game be a company that has kept the Gamecube interesting?
Argue my point please and stop replying with the same old crap. At least NB actually states that VJ is more enjoyable than the Nintendo games he has played... that's an understandable statement... I disagree but that's my porogative.

Mooo! <<<< To allow it to be posted.
Saying that about Viewtiful Joe it plays almost exactly like the old platformers I used to play on the Megadrive including a certain Comic Zone. About a guy getting sucked into a comic and having up to 3 powers which he could use (although these were more special abilities) to beat the various baddies.
I loved that game and it is for that reason I love Viewtiful Joe.
I have never played a game like Luigi's Mansion, Doshin the Giant (and hopefull never again) and Pikmin.
I love Pikmin by the way and you don't. Causing a massive problem of not understanding.

With large amounts of shooting.
Capcom for me have kept the Cube interesting.
On the other hand, VJ is new and it is fresh. After 1364 sequels and spin offs it too will be good, but not interesting.
And age has little to do with it, you were only here a couple of months before me.

First person adventure.

Pikmin (you may not like I find fantastic), Doshin (erm well yes), Animal Crossing, Metroid Prime... they've even messed around with Mario Kart and Zelda for sods sake.
> What have Capcom done that I have seen before? Oh wait, VJ.
And that's it!
