Microsoft, by way of announcing its Xbox strategy for Christmas in the UK, has revealed today that there will be no immediate axe taken to the retail price of the console before 2004.
Expectations were high following Nintendo's slashing of GameCube to £79.99 that Microsoft would follow with a price cut of its own prior to Christmas, especially since Nintendo's machine has begun to outsell the Xbox for the first time in months (2 to 1).
However, Microsoft has instead chosen to place its yuletide hopes in a bundle that features the console, Halo and Midtown Madness 3 and a voucher for two months' subscription to Xbox Live. This Xbox bundle will retail for £139.99, on shelves from today.
Industry watchers will be following Sony's, Nintendo's and Microsoft's Christmas fortunes in the UK closely, in particular the clash between GameCube and Xbox.
While Sony is in an unassailable position and likely to do very well with EyeToy this Christmas, Nintendo is looking stronger than it has for some time, sales likely to be driven further by the arrival of Mario Kart: Double Dash!! on November 14. Let the battle commence.
Hmmmm exciting.

How many times do I have to say it.
There is only one game Capcom have released that is interesting!
Nintendo have released loads!

You've managed to name... 2 Nintendo games there.
Pikmin, Animal Crossing, Eternal Darkness, Metroid Prime...
And for most Nintendo gamers Zelda and Mario still lighten up their life... including mine.

Whats their to mock? Capcom are the only company keeping the Cube remotely interesting. Without them I wouldn't own a Cube.
I just like my Cube, nobody else cares, there we go.
Mr. Bigglesworth and Alaistair have their opinions, Dringo's his.
Ah well.
C'est la vie.

READ IT! Where did I say keep the Cube alive? Hmmmm? That's right I said interesting.
I was mocking the fact that you said a company that has released 4 outdated sequels (or ports), a really really bad Mickey Mouse game, and 2 original titles... one of which isn't very good.
So you are saying that for ONE game Capcom have managed to out smart Nintendo with keeping the console interesting.
Get REAL!
VJ kept my interest. Resi helped fight the kiddy image. Nothing Nintendo are making is really exciting me anymore, it is all tired and unoriginal. Hell, F Zero was developed by Sega this time round.
