It's nice to follow it from time to time... here is some good news regarding Nintendo's recent Christmas assault. It is an article printed in Computerandvideogames where a discussion arises about Microsoft's hopes of winning the Christmas war:

Microsoft, by way of announcing its Xbox strategy for Christmas in the UK, has revealed today that there will be no immediate axe taken to the retail price of the console before 2004.

Expectations were high following Nintendo's slashing of GameCube to £79.99 that Microsoft would follow with a price cut of its own prior to Christmas, especially since Nintendo's machine has begun to outsell the Xbox for the first time in months (2 to 1).

However, Microsoft has instead chosen to place its yuletide hopes in a bundle that features the console, Halo and Midtown Madness 3 and a voucher for two months' subscription to Xbox Live. This Xbox bundle will retail for £139.99, on shelves from today.

Industry watchers will be following Sony's, Nintendo's and Microsoft's Christmas fortunes in the UK closely, in particular the clash between GameCube and Xbox.

While Sony is in an unassailable position and likely to do very well with EyeToy this Christmas, Nintendo is looking stronger than it has for some time, sales likely to be driven further by the arrival of Mario Kart: Double Dash!! on November 14. Let the battle commence.

Hmmmm exciting.

The AJ Gaming News says that the PS2 sales are down by 970% while Xbox has sold 7 more consoles than last week worldwide and Gamecubes have all been destroyed by Martians.

In other words, what you hear is never true.

Thats funny because on gamerankings they said Cube sales had rose 400% but the Xbox still bettered this amount by a further 60%.

Computerandvideogames.com stated the Gamecube sales dropped but will properly jump with upcoming releases. They also stated the X-box sales rose 80% due to the new bundle but is nothing compared to Gamecube's rise of 300%.

That's right... I said it's occasionally interesting to follow.

This is following it.

It's more than made up for in Japan, though, and that's what Nintendo seem to care about.

An average 12,000 Gamecubes are sold a week there compared to the average 600 Xboxes a week.

I don't care about sales, to be honest - I own all consoles, and what really matters is the games. Gamecube has the better games coming out in the next few months, closely followed by the Xbox. In fact, I'm thinking of selling my PS2 and all the games. The only reason I haven't it due to PES3, which is simply wonderful.

Oh, and Viewtiful Joe = magnificent.

Oh dear, Nintendo Gameucbe sales slumped after one week of the 79.99 deal and Xbox is back in #2 position thanks to a nice new deal, though Gamecube's overall sales are higher than this time last year.
