Microsoft, by way of announcing its Xbox strategy for Christmas in the UK, has revealed today that there will be no immediate axe taken to the retail price of the console before 2004.
Expectations were high following Nintendo's slashing of GameCube to £79.99 that Microsoft would follow with a price cut of its own prior to Christmas, especially since Nintendo's machine has begun to outsell the Xbox for the first time in months (2 to 1).
However, Microsoft has instead chosen to place its yuletide hopes in a bundle that features the console, Halo and Midtown Madness 3 and a voucher for two months' subscription to Xbox Live. This Xbox bundle will retail for £139.99, on shelves from today.
Industry watchers will be following Sony's, Nintendo's and Microsoft's Christmas fortunes in the UK closely, in particular the clash between GameCube and Xbox.
While Sony is in an unassailable position and likely to do very well with EyeToy this Christmas, Nintendo is looking stronger than it has for some time, sales likely to be driven further by the arrival of Mario Kart: Double Dash!! on November 14. Let the battle commence.
Hmmmm exciting.

What you think will be a lacklustre game? You don't KNOW, do you? You haven't played it, have you? And just because you don't think you will enjoy it, why should that mean that everyone who DOES is a "stupid gamer"?
Is it not even marginally conceivable that people can thoroughly enjoy things that you personally dislike? Get your head out of your backside you fatuous gimp.

Heh, I was referring to gay men entering heterosexual marriages, which happens a lot, as gay men mask their true sexuality. I should have heard the whoosh as that comment went over your head even as I was typing it. Regardless, your comments were extremely out of line, frustration or not. And if a little ignorant irritation at seeing a game you haven't experienced spend time in the charts against your personal approval causes you to resort to racial insults - and it is racial, labelling Japanese gamers as "especially stupid" - then that just points to your own personal 'stupidity'. Personally, I believe that it is not the Japanese gamer who is stupid, but yourself.

Like I care what you think of me. I personally believe that you should apologise for your comments, and rephrase them in a less offensive manner.

Did anyone else think that was really about race? No, it was a way of wording frustration with what I think will be a lacklustre game being at the top of the charts.

Yes and I think it is unnatural and goes against my beliefs.

I would almost be bothered by that, but it comes from you so lacks any sort of weight.

It's like saying SEGA keep Microsoft interesting...
Oh hang on. :D
Wait.. perhaps it's better not to start this again...

As opposed to someone who labels people racists for no reason? I can see you have a strong claim to your moral highground here. Muppet.

I own Mario Party 4, it's an awesome game, and the multiplayer value is enormous. I have no doubt that #5 is well worth it's chart time.

So calling Japanese gamers especially stupid isn't a dig at the Japanese people? You're a racist bigot, admit it. I don't care if you've got a Japanese friend. Whoopdee doo. Ever heard of gay men getting married?
You sir, are an unutterable moron, and are beneath contempt.
The dark side is more fun...
