I dunno if any1 is gonna agree with me on this one, but I think that the first year of the PS2 has been almost a waste of time, it started well with SSX, quake revolution was ok no online play though, GT3 is amazing and is well worth it, but what else!?? Tekken Tag, what a let down, driving emotion type S made me laugh and ridge racer 5 barely scraped past the finish line! Is that it, is that what £300 brings you over one year, there should be at least 40 top class titles to choose from! At least next year looks a lot more promising, with the likes of Metal Gear Solid 2, Tekken 4 and Devil May Cry in the pipeline the PS2 is looking up, but the fact remains that 1 year of the PS2's short lifespan has gone! Has the first year been a waste?

Its a way of keeping the console cheaper. technolgy goes down with time... so the console can be improved at low cost in a few years time. THe N64 expansion pak wasnt used until DK64 came out.

The extra RAM won't improve it "no end", it will just allow for better textures. Just because there's more room to store the level doesn't mean the graphics will improve.

Anyway, why must Nintendo insist in these add-ons? Modems and HDDs are OK because they don't improve the graphics but with the Expansion Paks Nintendo are moving to a very dangerous PC-like situation. It's not in the spirit of consoles and it's cheating.

Ahhhh that is where you are wrong Mr Turbo as Nintendo will be releasing a device similiar to the expansion pack, which will give the Gamecube an extra 64mb Ram (they may not be completely right but I think it is) which will improve the graphics and the framerate no end.

Well, I do.

The PS2 is technically as good as the GC. MGS2 has already exceeded Nintendo's claims and because of the PS2's architecture, it will get better. Compare Tekken 1 to Tekken 3. I think you'll agree it's a mrked difference, and we'll see an even greater change with the PS2. The GC, however, will not get better. What you see now is what you get. Nintendo have already admitted that Eternal Darkness is pushing the machine to its limits.

And tat, my friend, is why you pay an extra £100 for the PS2. And, it'll be about the same price as the GC when it launches. Quite a bargain, I think you'll agree.

But, the PS2 (technically) is as good, possibly better than the GC a whole 18 months before it. Also, you get a CD and DVD player thrown in. Not bad for 300 notes.
