I dunno if any1 is gonna agree with me on this one, but I think that the first year of the PS2 has been almost a waste of time, it started well with SSX, quake revolution was ok no online play though, GT3 is amazing and is well worth it, but what else!?? Tekken Tag, what a let down, driving emotion type S made me laugh and ridge racer 5 barely scraped past the finish line! Is that it, is that what £300 brings you over one year, there should be at least 40 top class titles to choose from! At least next year looks a lot more promising, with the likes of Metal Gear Solid 2, Tekken 4 and Devil May Cry in the pipeline the PS2 is looking up, but the fact remains that 1 year of the PS2's short lifespan has gone! Has the first year been a waste?

Turbo you seem to be ignoring the small factor that is the expansion pack which will improve the graphics.

a) The GC's graphics won't get better because it's so easy to code for. There are no "tricks" or "shortcuts" to learn.

b) Crazy Taxi's graphics are an exact copy of the DC's in every detail, to keep it true to the arcade. The draw distance could easily be longer but they weren't allowed to.

How can you say that you only have too look at an early N64 game such as Mario 64 then compare that with a game such as Banjo Tooie to realise that as games makers get more used to the hardware they get the most out of it.

Well judging by the draw distance *cough* sorry i mean pop up on crazy taxi, the PS2 has got a long way to go before it starts really performing in the graphics stakes.

Im ripping apart the pS2 here but same goes for the x box and game cube (Well not GC, see down for pre mentioned expansion pack), hardware upgrades are needed to make things better as graphics are now hardware powered, compared to PS1 software.

That depends. Graphics can go so much further than detail. Graphics can always get better in terms of draw distance, texture resolution, fluidity, any number of things. Look at Jak and Daxter. The draw distance is huge, if the detail itself isn't that good. Imaging something like that in MGS2 quality. Who knows, that might be possible. At least we have mights, the GC certainly won't get better.
