The X-box is an interesting console. It will be the most powerful in the world when released and it should be good. But will it?

Recently some of the signs have not been good, increased interest in the GC which goes on sale 3 days before the X-box in the states. That could well lose the X-box some customers.

But the X-box does have a few tricks up its sleeve, DOA3 being X-box exclusive is one of them. Also Sega are meant to be finishing off the Shenmue series on X-box only. With sequels to some of the DCs greatest games at the moment appearing to be X-box exclusives then it should have quite a few good gams.

But the question is will you get one?

I know that I would like an X-box and I am convinced that it will be a good platform but it looks to me like GC will be the format I favour when it comes around to release time.

I would like to know who of you will get an X-box, who will not and who possibly will get one if finances stretch taht far.

So?

Its a development kit, however with November looming and the new PS2 being released in the US with AOL in the bag. I believe that its only a matter of time before Sony release a Linux based OS for its machine...Sony Linux, if to do nothing else than annoy Microsoft it will be worth it!

No, it's a Linux devkit. It's not Linux FOR the PS2.

The N64 should beat the PS1. I mean the PS1 is a good console but is too grey and Sony have never produced a console before. They haven't got the experience of Ninty. Definately an N64 for me. I'm going to... errrr... hold on a sec!

The built in hard drive on the new PS2 looks dead easy to take out and replace, its certain to be a big winner with Linux enthusiasts.

Im thinking that if Sony plays its cards right it could eventually have a market that rivals the PC. That is PS2s running Sony Linux !

The Sony ethic:

1) Sony have released Linux for the PS2.

2) I am doing a computer games technology degree, Linux on the PS2 would be a perfect mini dev kit for me.

In reply:

Because my computer is old and slow and I need a cheap replacement, the Xbox is cheap and may be successful as a budget PC running Linux or Windows.

I dont know much about the Xboxs internals but it may be possible to put in bigger hard drive and then with a little program choose to boot it as the Xbox console or a PC running an OS???

Perhaps its a little far fetched, but its possible!
