The X-box is an interesting console. It will be the most powerful in the world when released and it should be good. But will it?

Recently some of the signs have not been good, increased interest in the GC which goes on sale 3 days before the X-box in the states. That could well lose the X-box some customers.

But the X-box does have a few tricks up its sleeve, DOA3 being X-box exclusive is one of them. Also Sega are meant to be finishing off the Shenmue series on X-box only. With sequels to some of the DCs greatest games at the moment appearing to be X-box exclusives then it should have quite a few good gams.

But the question is will you get one?

I know that I would like an X-box and I am convinced that it will be a good platform but it looks to me like GC will be the format I favour when it comes around to release time.

I would like to know who of you will get an X-box, who will not and who possibly will get one if finances stretch taht far.

So?

the GC will defenitly rule i mean the x-box is very powerful i can agree with that but apart from doa3 and shenmue thats pretty much the only games worth buying, the x-box will get some costomers but in the long run the gamecube will rise 2 the top

Oh right. That's true, I suppose. Mind you, they can't really be called "friends", can they? business associates, more like it.

and many PS2 "exclusives" are appearing elsewhere. And DC exclusives. And N64 exclusives... hmmm

I think u missed NiGHTS! point, delta. He was saying that when u start in the industry u have no friends, and you have to buy them with good dev kits and support. Sony, Sega and MS all did this to gain friends before their consoles launched

But it can be useful to have SOME friends, at least.

Sony did the same thing when the PS1 was launched. Sega did the same thing with the DC. If you want to break the market u have to make developers want to work for you... u start off with no friends in the industry.

Yep, that's what I meant. I didn't want to give the impression that Microsoft are the good guys - why would I wasnt to do that, eh? I hate them all. Although we've had to accept their company and use their products, such is the power they possess.

Ive heard that Microsoft gave developers a load of cash to "Buy their way into the Industry"...naturally these developers used this cash to complete the PS2 and GameCube games they had been developing, and ofcourse they then convert them to Xbox after(A condition of the cash injection).

This doesnt mean Microsoft are the good guys who support developers, it just means theyre buying their way in to a profitable market. It was a decision motivated purely by greed! £$£$£:-)

Did you know that Microsoft paid for developemtns kits for the GC for many developers (mostly, small, third party ones) so that they would convert their games onto the Xbox after?
