It's this kind of comment that makes me want to headbutt people.
It's on the advert for BG&E, it's on the inside cover of NGC, among other places. You'd think IGN had more sense..
Too many games developers are going down the 'better' route these days, which is why I rarely buy or play games anymore.
However, it's just better than any of those aforementioned titles.
Of course, some people hated the backtracking, controls and the like. Those people are fools. :-P
It just took a hold though - I can't explain it much better.

You really can't have played it much at all, then. The self-contained storyline is a stroke of genius, the controls, while hard to get used to, some become fluid and suit the game perfectly. The boss battles are some of the best you're likely to ever see, and the scanning mini-quest (so to speak) gives Prime an addictive edge.
Nintendo's premier franchises have nothing on Prime, it's probably the best game of our generation.
I loved it.
