"Is the PS2 honestly that bad?"

When sony anounced that they were releasing the PS2 I thought that it would be the best thing since the SNES and could not wait to get one. But now that that it's here it seems to be quality starved and most of the games that I have played have poor gameplay or are sequels to popular PS1 games. Which is a good idea in theory but in reality these games are more or less the same but with improved graphics eg Tekken Tag, Ridge Racer and GT3. I just want to know if it realy is that bad, your opinions please.

Only non biased gamers post. (No phrases like PS2 is great because nintendo/microsoft suck)

Why doesn't gaming become cheaper? 270 quid for a PS2 is a bit pricy considering how long it's been out for and that the GC is coming out rather cheap?!

I'm enjoying mine immensly, Red Faction and Onimusha are both fabulous games that are more than "an improvement on PS1 titles" and both have surprisingly good replay value.

They're what's keeping me entertained at the moment, but there are plenty of other good games out there (GT3, ZOE, Crazy Taxi, etc) and PLENTY of good titles on the way (MGS2, Devil May Cry, the Getaway, FFX, THPS3, Jak&Daxter, list goes on, Tarrant gets bored, lists his thoughts, instead of games, finds it amusing, is alone in this, stops.)

So I say that the PS2 is not at all bad and is in fact very good. I fail to see why other owners don't see this and don't really care what non owners think as generally there dis like comes from jealousy or loyalty to a rival of SONY.

Project gotham, Matrix, Oddworld, shrek, DOA3, Jet Set Radio Future, Shenmue, Buffy, Malice, Starfighter SE, and Halo, to name just a few.

It will be the best yet I hope, Nintendo have to time is just right mind you.

I bet they have a team on it already, All of them working their little brains off trying to find the perfect release date.

Now with Nintendo going the disks, we will have more games because it takes less time to make quality games.
With cartridges it took ages. Remember the Perfect Dark wait???

What good release titles have the X-Box got. I heard that it didn't have too many

I wouldn't be too sure yet-the PS2 has an amazing line up for the future. I'm looking forward to a very close contest between the 2.

Then again, the X-Box looks rather good as well.

It all depends on the X-Box, if it becomes a big console (excusing it's VCR size) than it'll have more money to propel it further but I think that the gamers will be more than happy to reside with the GC or PS2, I know I will!

If they get if out before PS3 that is.

Sony do make some games-isn't Polyphony Digital a part of SCEI??

I don't really care if they get converted a couple of years later, as so are some from other consoles.

I don't really care about missing out on Mario, Donkey Kong, Pikmin etc, as those games don't appeal to me.

And as for your comment on GT3-that has been heavily contested on Prime. {:)
