"Is the PS2 honestly that bad?"

When sony anounced that they were releasing the PS2 I thought that it would be the best thing since the SNES and could not wait to get one. But now that that it's here it seems to be quality starved and most of the games that I have played have poor gameplay or are sequels to popular PS1 games. Which is a good idea in theory but in reality these games are more or less the same but with improved graphics eg Tekken Tag, Ridge Racer and GT3. I just want to know if it realy is that bad, your opinions please.

Only non biased gamers post. (No phrases like PS2 is great because nintendo/microsoft suck)

No worries about the spelling! It was probably just a nasty rumour sent out by a Sony director which realised how difficult it was to make games for the X-Box, but still I think that Ant's right that only time will tell which console comes out on top. I have no favourite to win but I am probably more biased towards the GC if anything!

That’s fair enough Ant, you have your right to an opinion, everybody does.

I would take I PS2 if someone offered me one but who wouldn’t?

The games coming out for PS2 do look good but the games out now like GT3 was just another GT2, better graphics, and a few extra cars maybe, if you are lucky, if you paid £100 for a special edition copy.

Besides, some of those games aren't quite as good as they should've been while others are conversions or games that will be converted.

Because Sony relies entirely on third party devellopers for classic games like MGS2 (from Konami) and Starfighter (from Lucas Arts), if these companies start releasing the games on other systems as well (which is very likely in most cases), Sony will run short of exclusive brilliant games.

I.e. - most good PS2 games will be available for other systems which have their own exclusive titles too.

This is why Sony are desperate to get exclusive titles.

Seifer, sorry about the name wrong spellings. I’m not sure about the rumours about X-Box games being hard to make.

Yep, but that's not Sony's fault.

You can't really expect loads of top class games straight away. I believe people over-hyped it, and I'm sad to say that I'm probably one of them.

But I love my PS2. At the moment I'm trying to finish Red Faction in between playing GT3 all the time!

I haven't got a PS2 but I still want one even though my PC is quite a good one, I just have a crud keyboard!

True, but a good one can cost up to 4 times more than PS2.

What aren't you sure about GasMask?

If you have a good one, then you're not missing much if you don't have a PS2.
