When sony anounced that they were releasing the PS2 I thought that it would be the best thing since the SNES and could not wait to get one. But now that that it's here it seems to be quality starved and most of the games that I have played have poor gameplay or are sequels to popular PS1 games. Which is a good idea in theory but in reality these games are more or less the same but with improved graphics eg Tekken Tag, Ridge Racer and GT3. I just want to know if it realy is that bad, your opinions please.

Everyone seems to have forgotten about some amazing games that have come out on PS2-and the ones to come.
Anyone played ZOE, StarFighter, Crazy Taxi, Extermination, Unreal Tournament, Quake 3, Red Faction, Summoner, Ominusha, GT3 or the MGS2 demo??
Also to come is MGS2, Devil May Cry, Max Payne, Return To Castle Wolfenstien, Racer 2, Smackdown 3, The Getaway and many, many more.

Delta is right, hype plays probaly the biggest factor for a console to sell. No hype=no money for Sony, Sega, Nintendo etc

I'm normally incredibly biased against Sony but I'll hold it aside for this post.
No the PS2 isn't THAT bad, but it's also not THAT good.
It has a few neat games and enough to keep the average PS2 owner happy but because it's so hard for devellopers to make games for it, the Gamecube and Xbox have a more realistic potential - i.e. devellopers will find more possible to make great games on them.
Whats more, there has been a couple of original PS2 titles but they are completely drowned by the scope of what the Gamecube and Xbox can offer.
Sony made it out to be the next big thing.
