When sony anounced that they were releasing the PS2 I thought that it would be the best thing since the SNES and could not wait to get one. But now that that it's here it seems to be quality starved and most of the games that I have played have poor gameplay or are sequels to popular PS1 games. Which is a good idea in theory but in reality these games are more or less the same but with improved graphics eg Tekken Tag, Ridge Racer and GT3. I just want to know if it realy is that bad, your opinions please.

Only non biased gamers post. (No phrases like PS2 is great because nintendo/microsoft suck)

That's opinion based, but ZOE defintely has a better plot. More emotional, as well.

, StarFighter,

err.....no it's not, actually. It's coming out on X-Box, but not for nearly another year.

I have the sequal on my DC

Maybe, but I've heard the PS2 version is better than the DC versions.

UT, Quake 3
Errrr....

It's still a wicked multiplayer game, and has a great single player mode as well, I expect.

MGS2 Demo??

Demo? What's the

Yeah, there are already about 12 great games released, and before MGS2 there'll be Smackdown 3, Devil May Cry (I think,) The Getaway, Max Payne (which will supposedly be better than the PC version) and many more.

And Zelda bored me! Many of the PS2's games are better than Zelda in my opinion, as I didn't like it.

Als, sequels are

GT3 is not

It's still the best driving game out there by far.

128bit means nothing. You know nothing. Please, if you know nothing, say nothing in future.

Here we go with the old "GC has better games" bullcrap. How can you possibly know that?

As for flexibillity, well all the settings are pre-defined to the most commonly used on the GC, so the best cannot be got out of the hardware. The PS2 is totally flexible which is partly the reason why games take longer.

The PS2 isn't hard to develop for, just different. Once again this is another Ninty being brainwashed with things he doesn't understand. The PS2 has a different architecture so it is better at what it's supposed to do IE 3D games. The GC is more suited to word processors (although not as bad as the Xbox) and so is familliar to developers. Most PS2 developers said initially it was difficult getting their heads round it, but now they're much better. Yes, the GC is more powerful (in some areas) but the PS2 physically better at running 3D games because it's designed to.

I'm glad I didn't fall for all that 'emotion engine' twaddle. PS2 is a solid 128 bit machine and nothin' else. It's on par with Dreamcast.

Not really, if it has a large user base then it'll get the games. My Texas Instruments calculator is very easy to program for thanks to its BASIC program - that doesn't mean Square are going to announce that its shipping all the Final Fantasy games in the future exclusively for Texas Instruments calculators.

So the PS2 is Miraculous while the GC isn't flexible?

The PS2 is a miraculous mess up.

It's really awkward nature means it's not half as flexible as something easy to program for.

Devellopers have to concentrate their time and resources coping with the nonsense hardware instead of making good games.

And while the Gamecubes hardware might not be out of the ordinary, it's more powerful than the PS2 (I don't care what an obsecure site Bonus found says), devellopers can use it more easily and Nintendo themselves make games that Sony can only dream of.

Basically, do you choose the "amazing hardware" PS2 or "amazing games" Gamecube.

Seeing as the whole point of a consoles hardware is to make games, I think that the PS2's must be more than a little flawed!

Who's had it for 3 years??? It was launched in Japan in March 2000 - that's 17 months - not even 2 years, let alone 3!
