Mainly as Machie and I seem to spend half the time on the WLT chatting about Doctor Who...

Here's my current favourites;

Best Classic Episode: Genesis of the Daleks (Tom Baker)

Best Classic Doctor: Late 7th Doctor - when the stories got darker and the character really developed into something more than just a Timelord.

Best DVD: The Invasion

Best New Doctor Who Episode: Army of Ghosts / Doomsday

It was amazing as to how they changed a bunch of statues into something so terrifying.

Suprisingly, I really enjoyed that episode. I didn't expect much as there wasn't much of The Doctor, but it was really enjoyable and the concept of a quantum lock was genious, especially seeming as Russell didn't write the episode.

Fantastic episode. Some great scenes that stick in your memory too. And that last bit, very clever. I feel sorry for kids who've watched that, they're going to be looking around them for some time to come!

Well, it seems this weeks Doctor Who will hardly have the Doctor or Martha in it at all.

It's another one they filmed back to back with the next episode, and it will probably be similar to the last season story Love and Monsters, though this time the Doctor appears on a TV set.

I think they covered that in the classic series with the explanation that the Doctor is a big fan of Earth and it's rich recent history.

Anyway, very good ending, you can tell it was taken (pretty much intact, bar a few changes) from a Virgin New Adventure. For a start, it was very 7th Doctor and the ending was nice and dark.

Reminds me that Sophie Aldred is doing a convention somewhere in the next week or two. Too far for me to go, though. Hopefully there's another one nearby soon.

"It's odd, isn't it, how, with all of space and time to roam in, Time Lords keep ending up back on Earth in the relatively recent past."

- Today's Daily Mail TV Guide

I'm gonna download last weeks episode down and then watch the second half later. =)

Which is more reliable? The Sun or The Guardian? =)

Nevermind that's a stupid question ;) It would be stupid for them to end it while it's doing so well and I'm sure that's how Russell wants to leave it, doing well and getting better which each series. That is if you consider the 3rd one the best so far?

I might watch last saturdays episode tomorrow, so I can try and watch the second half the following day.

More news on the item from The Sun:

"MediaGuardian.co.uk, the media news-focused section of The Guardian newspaper's website, has today run a story (subscription link) by reporter Ben Dowell speculating about the possible future of Doctor Who showrunner Russell T Davies.

The piece, in reponse to a story published in this morning's edition of the tabloid newspaper The Sun, contains a quote from an unnamed "BBC drama spokeswoman", stating that: "Discussions have not begun so we cannot say if Russell will be involved or not" with Doctor Who beyond the end of the fourth series in 2008.

However, the report specifically denies The Sun's story that Davies and other staff on the show have a plan to end the programme at the conclusion of the fourth series. MediaGuardian quotes another source, a similarly unnamed "senior BBC Wales drama source", as telling them that:

"Russell has always said that he wouldn't be with the show forever and he has made no secret that the hours are quite exhausting... But there isn't any way it would be axed even if he left. He loves the show and he does feel that maybe it would benefit from some new blood."

The MediaGuardian states that "if Mr Davies does leave Doctor Who, the BBC will want to keep such a popular show going by bringing in a new executive producer to take over his creative responsibilities." (Taken from Outpost Gallifrey)

Only 2 of the episodes in this season (so far) have been written by Russell, so it wouldn't change much from a writing point of view. Mark Gatiss and Paul Cornell are 2 of the New Adventures writers who've also written for the new series, so there's plenty of scope for more.
