Read that in my paper this morning before my run, and then amused myself by thinking of Mikey while running (not in a gay way).
Stevie says he'll talk to him in the England training camp. No-one can turn down Stevie. No man, no woman.
If he goes for the 4-4-2 then I agree with you on principal, but Newcastle are lacking in a decent left-winger, so it could go either way there. Of course, I've been told Emre can play on the left wing.
Still, if he gets another striker, be it Owen or someone else, I wouldn't be surprised to see him budge a little and let Jenas leave for significantly less than he's asking at the moment.
He'll be in a bit of a pickle really if he gets Owen. It will mean switching to 4-4-2, as you say, and choosing just one of Dyer, Jenas, Bowyer, Milner and N'Zogbia for the fourth midfield place, because he can't drop Parker, Emre or Luque.
I think he's likely to go with the formation you suggested, unless he can get his hands on another striker, as he's said he wants to. I read earlier that he wants Luque as a left sided player, so that means Emre will probably play centrally if he uses a 4-4-2.
Jenas - Parker - Emre
Dyer - Shearer - Luque
For his forward two lines in a kind of Chelsea-esque formation.
Which leaves out Milner, Bowyer, Belozoglu, N'Zogbia and Faye I think. If Jenas leaves, I expect Dyer will play in that central midfield role and Bowyer or Milner will play just outside of Shearer on the right.
