Another thread on Mikey, true. But I have to keep my hopes up. Losing my favourite 'Pool striker is a blow that can only be softened with the return of the only 'Pool player I have loved more than him. Mikey is on his way back - that's what The Times seems to think:

Read that in my paper this morning before my run, and then amused myself by thinking of Mikey while running (not in a gay way).

No way, any manager who has dropped shearer has been sacked soon after. Mind you, I suppose anyone is better than souness :)

Parker was quite easily Newcastle's best player today, I thought. If they get Owen, I'd drop Shearer and make Parker captain. The lad will be world class, Stryke, you know it really :-)

According to The Times however (who have, over this past fortnight, acted like they know much more than everyone else), Owen is still on his way to Liverpool, as they claim he has been for a while now, and Cisse will be shipped out to make way for the three new imports.

Not really helping your case there

During the first 50 years of English Football Newcastle were one of the biggest football teams in the world. Constantly winning trophy after trophy. In the 70's and 80's as well as the late 60's it was a depressing time for the team but since then they've been looking up. Challenging for the premiership in the 90's and giving Manchester United a royal run for their money...

Newcastle United are a big english football club with a big history and a big fan base. Whether you want to admit it or not.

They've had big managers, Keegan, Bobby Robson, Jack Charlton etc...

They've had big players, and not just Shearer. Keegan, Waddle, Milburn, Cole, Beardsly, Gascoigne etc...

You don't support them, they haven't won for a while so therefore they're not a big team. Honestly. Any team that can table up to £40 million for players this summer is a big team.

Anything think that Dringo is actually Souness?

They are no Nottingham Forest, Leeds, Arsenal, Manchester United or Liverpool... but a big team with a good future.
