Sega might be stopping production, but this console really is the one to be playing the top games of today.
Crazy Taxi 2 Sonic ADV 2 etc... I havent seen a Playstation 2 title yet that has Surpassed the Visuals of the DC.
This is someone speaking with years of loyalty to Nintendo too, so I would't call it biased.

As long as YOU have a Dreamcast it will never be “dead” because YOU can still play all the wonderful games it has to offer.
Yeah, I too would buy a Dreamcast (if I didn’t have one already) because we are being blessed with a few quality games soon.
Okay what is my no1 console?
It would have to be the Playstation2 but I still adore my Dreamcast and love Sega for blessing me with it.
However, when the Gamecube comes out my opinion could have changed to thinking that the Gamecube is the no1 console, only time will tell.
I am still uncertain if I will like the X-Box or not. I know that it will have good graphics etc. but there is just something about it that is making me think twice about buying it.

Why does it seem sad? If that's what you want to do, sod what anyone else thinks! If you miss the games, get another!
I once bought a 2nd-hand Commodore VIC-20, even though I had an Amiga, because I missed playing Jet Pac!
At the moment, I have not seen a PS2 game with better visuals than Shenmue, but this could change with games like Metal Gear Solid 2 coming out. And there is also the possibility that Shenmue 2 and Sonic Adventure 2 could come out on the PS2.

What makes you think that? ...
And...
Does that mean your against multi-platform games releases... since it will mean de-personalisation of the consoles?
:)
To me, the DC is the best console I've owned so far, due to the quality of the games and the fun I've got from it. The Playstation was great when it came out, but now sits there looking dejected next to the DC and N64 and even the Saturn gets played sometimes.
However, I know plenty of people who are happy to keep their PS1 consoles and wouldn't think of getting anything else just yet.
The Gamecube, if it eventually arrives, will be my next aquisition. I'm looking forward to seeing what excellent games Nintendo can produce on the current generation hardware.
:)
Sony actually has many 'in-house' developers. They are producing games such as : The Getaway, WipeOut Fusion, Dropship and oher top games. Also Sky Oddysee (Damn you Abe - I can't spell) and Fantavision were developed in house.
In fact the success of the PSX was mainly down to the unrivaled 3rd party support that it recieved and is why the PS2 is going from strength to strength. You mentioned Nintendo - If Sony had followed them so closely, then Sony too would have made it very difficult for a 3rd party developer to produce games for their system. Nintendo had almost no 3rd party support for the N64 and everyone of any worth in the game development industry was aiding the PSOne's reign of donination.
The Sony games are there, but rather then concentrating on nothing but sequals to their PSOne games Sony's deveopment houses are making new and ground-breaking titles for which and deveoper would be envious.
