My personal favourite theory, that explains everything about the man called Jesus, is that he was a time-traveller. Think about it. Some mystical bloke, giving it all "that" with extra sass - I'd be pretty lairy if I'd just time-travelled. Healing the sick with modern and future medicine. And he's white. The first time-traveller (if the End of Days hasn't come like you're cheerily predicting) will probably be some white-bred American bloke, so he'll be well-versed in the Bible. It's a good theory, don't knock it. Expect to see the film. Soon. Starring Mark Wahlberg as Jesus. And William Shatner as God. Probably.

So you could do them and not get punished by God then?
As free will indicates you are free to do it, without consequence. Like I have the free will to eat a pizza without any majorly bad consequences happening to me.

Again, thats the problem I've got with the whole arrangement. As I've said, a terrible, terrible person can accept jesus at the end of a sinful and appalling life and according to you (well ff anyway, as he has stated before), they are going to paradise.
An agnostic, athiest or member of another religion can do an awful lot of a lot of good throughout their life, and according to you lot, are all going straight to hell.
That just smacks of "Believe in me like a good little boy or be punished" I'm afraid.
[quick edit] So could I commit murder for example, accept jesus with all of my heart, and be forgiven?
Anyway. Off to an important meeting for the rest of the day. Have a good one.

From our earthly perspective then as FF said it looks like Number 1.
There are plenty of people that go to Church that have less chance of going to heaven than those that don't - it isn't about being a good bloke and doing some great charity work - it is about accepting Jesus as your saviour - and that is why it is harder for Christians than non Christians - The reason it is harder is that once you have accepted Jesus then there is no going back - to go back means to reject him and that is the worst thing that you can do. There are plenty of people in Churches who have not fully accepted Jesus and who never do - they go to Chruch without having enough faith to take that final step.

So that "better" person goes to hell because they have not accepted Christ. Even though they have spread so much good in the world.
The lazy Christian goes to paradise for nothing more than believing in Jesus.
Seems a but unfair and spiteful on the lords part doesn't it?
So by your philosophy, a murderer and rapist who accepts Jesus on his death bed (thus removing all his sins) will go to heaven.
An agnostic that never hurt anyone either physically or emotionally in their life goes to hell.
THAT’S the problem I have with what you are preaching.

Yes, and other people have their own beliefs, which you immediately regard as worthless if they have not accepted jesus.
Think on this. Who is the better person?
1) An atheist who selflessly devotes all their free time to helping others, doing charity work, visiting people in hospital etc etc etc.
2) A Christian who does very little apart from the occasional bit of church work.
According to you, its 2, because they have accepted jesus. That’s my problem with your philisophy. Its black and white, with no grey shades involved.

Well, perhaps people have their own beliefs and /or religion? Perhaps they could be respected and left alone instead of being battered over the head with "you are going to hell" all the time?
Every thread. Over and over again. This is “Intelligent Discussion” after all, not “preaching to the heathens”
If forest fan is the rescue mission, on a mission to save souls, perhaps the people in the water as he's buzzing around them bleating away are simply saying, "No, I'm not in trouble, I'm simply out for a leisurely swim. It's only YOU who is seeing a problem of your own imagination. It's actually quite nice, with no danger at all"
[edit]Perhaps they could be left alone huh? And not attempted to be converted (which ff has professed to be trying to do time and time again) because that comes across as the very worse type of religious bullying.
