"Self-harm: cutting."

My girlfriend recently asked me why I cut myself. I replied

"Because I have knowledge of things I cannot change."

It's quite profound, but that is why I cut myself. To let out anger. I don't cut deep, but enough to bleed. I sent my qoute to a self-harm website, to use on there front page but they ignored it. Shame, I really think it can help people understand why they are harming (cutting, burning etc) themselves.

Hopefully someone will find it useful.

Listen. My ex was subjected to a *serious* sexual assult, and I have suspicious it was multiple rape. The only thing you can do (with your girlfiend) is offer support and understanding. Tell her to talk to someone about it, and she could well avoid turning into the type of girl my ex because. I know I don't know your girlfriend and her persoanllity, but if she is distressed tell her and URGE her to get help.

You cutting yourself for her problems is uttely pathetic, and the fact you are posting about it on a web forum is offensive.

I haven't because then the truth about what happened to my girlfriend will get out and she doesn't want that. I only cut when I'm desperate, and only enough to bleed. Not deep. I suppose I use the forum as an outlet for anguish, just as my cutting.

Nope you're looking too deep in to it. I'm just saying there's nothing in my life so bad I can't handle and would turn to cutting myself because of.

My life is like so bad I should end it.

I mean there aren't other people in the world living a worser life surely not.

It's pretty pathetic.. You're saying, you would cut yourself if you had the chance, which probably means that you would be able to control it when it comes to the moment, so of course, it'd be completely all for the attention. Some people out there can't even control themselves when doing it, yet it sounds as though you would.
