The Revolution will also be a wireless router for the home, connect broadband to it and it will allow nearby consoles to link and go online. Such as a DS for example.
Rumours:
Revolution will be VERY cheap, will be only a little more powerful than a Gamecube and vastly inferior to X-box 360 and PS3. There will be multiple controllers, touch screen, gyro and camera are all being touted.
If the latter is true then I told you Nintendo are gunning for a different market.
How do they know they don't like it if they've never tried. It could be the best thing they've ever done, but if they don't try they won't know.
They make the sort of games that they like to make, that they like to play. Ever tried making food you don't like to eat?
How can you do well at something you don't like to do?
Nintendo has never been about complex games.
They're just not interested in it.
There's loads of people who ARE interested in complex games and also very good at making them. Why not leave that to them and let Nintendo do what Nintendo like to do.
They're still looking into new areas, pushing boundaries, but doing the ones that they're interested in rather than the same boring ones that other people have already explored.

Do you not see the horrible contradiction here? Are they in favour of trying new things, or sticking with what they know? Which is it? If they are willing to risk a new console on something they've never tried before, why won't they do it with games? It doesn't make sense.

It's not that the can't, it's just that they don't want to.
It's not their style. They're doing what they do best.
With the revolution they're out to do something new.
It's not supposed to replace your PS3 or Xbox2, but if these rumours are to go by then it'll be to compliment it.
Seriously though, if Nintendo were about to unveil a more powerful version of the Gamecube, then I'd say "forget it! just stick to the Gamecube."
I've not seen ONE Gamecube game suffer for lack of power.
I've not seen and Gamecube games held back for lack of power.
Sure, there are new things that can be done with more power, but what's genuinely interesting and what's gimmicky will be few a far between. I reckon that major online experiences will be big on the Xbox and Playstation, but why have a third clone? Seeing as about half of you have a PS2/Xbox as well, why have two of the same?
More of Zelda 64? More of Mario 64?
Well they can do that on the Gamecube.
Why do they need more power for that?
I think that only with some COMPLETELY new that it's worth doing anything.
The thing is, just having hardware with the "possibilities" won't be enough. And just showing what it "can" do with a few gimmicky demo games won't get anywhere. They're going to have to do something REALLY special if they want to take the gaming world by storm. But if they're going to take the gaming world by storm again, this is the only way they're going to pull it off.
(s'alright Dringo! I've got your back! ;-))
I want more power, good online gaming, and Nintendo's great gaming franchises.
If I'm only going to get 2 out of the 3 on PS3 and Xbox 360, then I'll happily take that over the 1 out of 3 I'd get by choosing the Revolution.
Meh, E3 is still to arrive, and we'll see what happens then. I'm betting Nintendo will either pull of something amazing or something utterly crud. And right now it's looking like the latter. But I can hope this won't be the case.

Hurrah, someone with sense!

Hurrah!

Sometimes I wonder if some of you even realise the point of these discussions. We are all speculating, yes, but what we are saying is that if this happened, then it would be bad. No one is saying it will happen, but what we're saying is that we hope it doesn't happen, and that it's a bad idea.
