This machine truly takes you to the peak of interactive entertainment; it not only plays games but also has a built in DVD player, which allows you to watch DVD movies. The Playstation 2 is now destined to become even more popular than its predecessor, having sold a staggering 10 million units in only 5 months. This means simply that your investing in the future, every major developer is now producing games for the PS2 and already the PS2 has some great games released for it. Such as Zone of Enders (Z.O.E.), Timesplitters and TekkenTagTournament. But as they say the best is yet to come with GranTurismo3, MetalGearSolid 2, Silent Hill2, WWF Smackdown 3 and the Getaway sure to be big hits when they’re released later this year.
You just said that hardcore developers are going to carry on making hardcore games (XXX or otherwise I'm sure this is good)
If that is the case, you surely will buy and play and enjoy these hardcore games yes?
Then, if I may, What the hell is your problem?
So sony are introducing a new generation to gaming, so what?
So you regard them as 'casual gamers', so what?
So you don't want any part of it, so what?
Is anyone forcing you to play playstation? NO.
Are there still 'HARDCORE' games for you to play? According to you, YES. and there will be 'forever'
So whh not just shut up about the rest of us and live your life. Trust me, you'll be a lot happier!
Now lets hear no more of it :-)
Because it is filled with casual gamers who like c**p games and encourage their development.
What is wrong with so called 'casual gaming'?
It is destroying what was good about gaming. Tons of triple-A games and a good competition between consoles. With Sony dominating developers aren't encouraged to compete with each other making top games because they know that bloody casual gamers will buy any old crap. Why else does 'Who Wants To Be A Millionaire?' sell?
Why do you blame Sony?
Because they created casual gaming and are therefore fully responsible for this mess.
Why do you complain so much?
Because you people can't seem to get it into your bloody thick heads that SONY B***ERED UP GAMING.
And finally, are you the sort of person that will dodge questions such as these?
No because I just answered them!
The original PlayStation hasn't helped the gaming industry. Sure, more people play games nowadays but most of these people are casual gamers. Developers now know that you can get away with making crap games and that is why there are so many of them. There wasn't half as many crap games before the PlayStation. It may have put money in the games industry but the developers who have always made good hardcore games still do so and always will.

Jeez, how pathetic are you,

This bull about 'hardcore' and

So what is a casual gamer then? I for one have bought and own many consoles and a PC. I would say iam a hardcore gamer who plays on games for hours at a time completing the games in very quick times or getting high scores. But I own a PS2 so does that make me a casual gamer for owning one.
Also you say that there are too many Final Fantasys. But each one is different. Different characters, locations, storyline, battle system the only thin that is the same is the people who make it. The games last for ages, over 100 hours for some of them. I completed FF7 in around 44 hours, but if I wanted to get everything you need about 100 hours or so. FF8 I got to the begining of Disc 4 within 57 hours.
You are saying seqeuls are bad as they are re-hashes of games, but without seqeuls games cant improve, also there will be very few ideas left that could be used that wasnt a seqeul. I bet you own a game which is a seqeul to a game. If a crap game gets a seqeul then you would wonder why but the gaming industry is a money making one, so seqeuls of high selling games are going to be released as they want more money. The game makers arent there to just please the gamer if they did they would be no industry left. They want to make money and seqeuls to high selling games, is one way to ensure they release a game which millions of people will buy.
