Well, the drug is being (or has been) downgraded to class C. What does this mean? The government are keen to point out that it is still illegal, that those in possession will still be arrested.
On the news tonight, they used the phrase "Cannabis, a drug tens of thousands of people choose to smoke each week". I think they are seriously underestimating how widespread its use is. I wager everyone on here knows somebody who smokes it, I certainly do. Could decriminalizing the drug work in this country? There are huge benefits for the government in the way that it would free up a lot of police time, which could be used for catching those dealing/possessing harder drugs.

Alcohol doesn't directly cause fights, but indirectly it certainly does.
People don't have a drink and then think "Let's have a fight" (well, some people probably do), but they are far more emotional, and likely to do things that cause fights.

The good old "Alcohol causes fights" argument. Thats like saying all hash smokers are wasters.
I drink, sometimes quite large quantities. I don't fight or get agressive (well, apart from that one time when I was on gin)

Regardless of what people are drinking, put agressive young men who are on the pull together in a confined space, and they are going to fight.

Arm people with facts, knowledge is power. Tell people 'yes, if you do x, you feel like y, but you will be doing z to your body', rather than having people just going ahead and doing things blindly. And to be frank, if people WANT to do things, they will regardless of its legality. At least let them make their own decision about it. At least let people make up their own minds about things, and it could do without disregarding them as wasters because of your own distaste for what it is they do.
