Well, the drug is being (or has been) downgraded to class C. What does this mean? The government are keen to point out that it is still illegal, that those in possession will still be arrested.

On the news tonight, they used the phrase "Cannabis, a drug tens of thousands of people choose to smoke each week". I think they are seriously underestimating how widespread its use is. I wager everyone on here knows somebody who smokes it, I certainly do. Could decriminalizing the drug work in this country? There are huge benefits for the government in the way that it would free up a lot of police time, which could be used for catching those dealing/possessing harder drugs.

Is there any point whatsoever in downgrading the drug as they have done?

Do you have any views on the drug, or the questions I have asked above?

I find it intriguing that someone who can sit there and write six page essays on the decisions of politicians, regarding the war in iraq, can dismiss another controversial subject with such sweeping generalisations, and close-mindedness.

Easy, that is ideal world logic, not always applicable in the real world.

Not everything is black and white.

I don't need anyone to tell me it's okay or that it's legal. I know full well it isn't, that's the whole point of this thread, to discuss if there are valid reasons for it to be legalised, or whether it should be kept illegal.

Just why you think I would need help requires explanation. I am responsible for my actions, and am happy with the way I choose to live my life, as I am sure are you. It would be easy for me to ask you how you live your life, and pick holes in that, but I have fundamental respect for the choices of others. You can lead your life however you wish, as will I. If I need help from others at any stage in my life, I will ask for it, but that is my decision to make, not something for others to impose.

Really?

Cannabis use = illegal.
Canabis user = criminal.
Criminal = waster.

Fault the logic on that.

And whilst were dishing out insults, yes all three of you are wasters.

It's illegal no matter what reason you have.

Even as medication it's like saying "I'm broke so I'll go steal some money. It's okay because otherwise I'd have to work for it otherwise but then it'd take time and I'd get tired."

Beyond harsh and really petty too.

As I have stated, I loathe cannabis, but to label everyone that uses it to be a waster is just plain stupid.

As opposed to a tw@t like you who m@sturbates over his Nintendo and wouldn't know anime if DVD discs of it were shoved down his throat. And I hope the ironing comment really was intentional.

Do you think I care Light? You're obviously a user, sorry "waster" yourself so you defending illegal drugs use (not surprised the Law Society kicked you out) is hardly surprising.

Which is basically the essence of this thread.

Some of you take drugs, which are illegal, and you're trying to rationalise that and get people to tell you it is okay and not illegal. It is. If you take illegal drugs you need help, you're also breaking the law.

The arguement 'All people who smoke weed are wasters' is surely the thinnest one ever put forward.

I don't know what music you listen to, but it's almost certain that the musicians behind it either smoke weed or have smoked weed. I also wager that there are people that you have to call 'boss' that smoke the stuff. Must kill you knowing 'wasters' are telling you what to do.

Even major politicians admitted to smoking it when Anne Widdecombe brought it up. They're clearly wasters.

If those people are wasters, then I'm proud to call myself one.

I know of people who are 100% T-total, who sponge money off the government day after day, and have no intention of getting a job, unless they are physically forced.

Your arguement just doesn't wash.

So I'm a waster for smoking cannabis to relieve my pain. Thanks for letting me know - I'll stop smoking it and use conventional pain killers that'll slowly kill my immune system then, shall I?

****.
