On the news tonight, they used the phrase "Cannabis, a drug tens of thousands of people choose to smoke each week". I think they are seriously underestimating how widespread its use is. I wager everyone on here knows somebody who smokes it, I certainly do. Could decriminalizing the drug work in this country? There are huge benefits for the government in the way that it would free up a lot of police time, which could be used for catching those dealing/possessing harder drugs.
Is there any point whatsoever in downgrading the drug as they have done?
Do you have any views on the drug, or the questions I have asked above?

He is breaking the law at 41MPH, it's just that the Police allow you 10% for speedometer error. But, 41MPH in a 40MPH zone is breaking the law.
If you know what I mean...
The law's good, but it's not perfect JUST yet. ;-)

No-one who has said they use cannabis in this thread has said it's okay - we all acknowledge that it's illegal. I. myself, have stated I smoke it for pain relief, but I have never said "So that makes it okay". In English_Bloke's thread titled "Police" I said:-

Okay then, same sentence with words changed;
"I'm ill so I'll take this illegal drug. It's okay because otherwise I would be ill"
You also miss the other starkly obvious similarity.
Both are illegal no matter the reason.

"Informed" is the word you are looking for. It's a fact that at 41 MPH in a 40MPH zone Snuggly, if stopped, would not be breaking the law unless he exceeded 44MPH.

Can everyone say "pedantic" ?

You've lost me there. How is smoking cannabis for pain relief like stealing money?
> Can be both..
Can't.
If you pulled a knob and sugar came out then fine.
If you pulled a nob and sugar came out...someone is going to need a creative story for the casualty department...
