"Why the GC will Fail like the DC"

Nintendo is marketing is console at gamers... which is why the GC will fail.

X-Box and PS are both squarly aimed primarily at the middle market...

This is the market where the cash is... though no-one single middle market games-player will ever buy as many games as a single hobbyist gamer...

The number of middle market players is where the money is...

And given the cost of producing a console, and titles capible of competing in todays market the Nintendo wont have enough buyers cash to make this possible...

There may be one more full size console left in Nintendo... but its future is left only as a handheld machine...

(at least until Sony & Microsoft dicede to attak the market)

Possibly true, but as i said, i dont think we can say anyhting definate until each has been out a while. At the moment its all guessing basically, which is not always a good thing.

With the Console wars hotting up nicely...

And market share being of such importance to companies...

Equally given Sonys & Microsofts legendary predatory behaviour (they dont just want to be the best selling.... they want to be the ONLY selling)

There will be one of the big three consoles dropping out of the race over the next years or two...

and GC is the underdog and the favourite to lose... Becoming a handheld based company... until Sony and MS decide to hustle into hand-helds themselves...

When the PS1/N64/etc... were released, all the hardcore gamers I knew were going ignoring the PS and waiting for the Nintendo or the SEGA... however, with sales... they both failed in comparison to the PS1... which marketed at the mainstream DIXONS customer rather than the old style gameplayer...

The reason no people have heard of the Gamecube is because advertising hasn't started yet.

Wait... until E3. Nintendo will rule the day onwards.

If they advertise afterwards.

It will boil down to alot of things, price, availability at launch, games at launch, games within 6 months of launch etc etc, the list goes on.

No-one will know until the 'Cube and the X have both been out at LEAST 6 months.

Would you rather buy a dedicated Mp3 player, or a Mp3 player that is built into a video camera?

Yep, you're right. In order to do well, a company has to market it's product to a majority, rather than a small minority. Out of several non-gamers who I know, all had heard of the Playstation 2, a few had heard of the X-Box, but none had heard of the gamecube.

Well.. and... as long as noone finds out I'm intending to get a GC I'm homedry :)

Besides, its not really a discussion bored if everyone agrees...

And it takes everyones mind of bashing Sniper, Lewinsky, etc... :)

iT is probubly my fault because I sumtimes spel stuff rongley.

But really the Gamecube won't fail. With the hype, desire of the fans, and backing of a VERY good percentage of Japanese developers what machine could!
