We dont understand technology or cars, its a fact. We can cook, multi task and generally communicate better than men, but we rely on you for the aforementioned examples above.
I know broadband makes things download faster but what else? Basically does it just mean the information comes to your computer faster than with a dial up modem, like what I am using now?
Does broadband come in different speeds? Like you can get 28 k b s modems and 56 k b s modems and I think you can get 128 k b s modems too, so does broadband vary in its speeds also?
Explain it to me please because I am considering getting it but would like to know more before I do!
> You can get 2MB one too, oo that would be so nice.
And a 10MB.. apparently. Coming soon to a home near you.
Damnit, my humour sucks today.
Anyhoo, I *think* a 10MB line is actually out there somewhere. I know a man who's got it. He's extra rich. That'd explain it.
On continental

Wow, that would be very nice if that was standard here too :)

128KB only counts as broadband because the UK sucks – well, were NTL not told to stop calling 128KB broadband anyway? On continental Europe you'd be pushing it calling anything below 1024KB broadband.

I found them noticable. Like no disconnecting. And about a bagizillion times faster. But then it was "56"kb. And it was on as soon as your PC was. That was the best feature as i could spend up to an hour a day connecting.
Just means that multiple stuff can be sent at the same time making it a lot quicker that the likes of a 56KB line.
If you are considering getting broadband then NTL offer a 600KB service for £25 a month. 128KB isn't really worth the money as the differences between that and a 56KB aren't very noticable.
If you can afford then look at the 1MB or higher services.
Also with broadband you are always connected so you can be downloading/uploading all day and night if you want. Also frees up your phone line as well.
