We dont understand technology or cars, its a fact. We can cook, multi task and generally communicate better than men, but we rely on you for the aforementioned examples above.
I know broadband makes things download faster but what else? Basically does it just mean the information comes to your computer faster than with a dial up modem, like what I am using now?
Does broadband come in different speeds? Like you can get 28 k b s modems and 56 k b s modems and I think you can get 128 k b s modems too, so does broadband vary in its speeds also?
Explain it to me please because I am considering getting it but would like to know more before I do!

Baseband is where the Signal is put 'directly' onto the wires.
Broadband is where the Signal is encoded with a carrier signal and sent along the wire, using different frequencies to send multiple signals down 1 single link.
Hopefully that helps some people.
