If it was up to you, would you have a strong-ish relationship ('going out') or would you have a very strong friendship with a member of the opposite sex?

I'm more of a friendship guy myself, seeing as I don't have the balls to ask someone out in the first place.

What aboot you?

It must be quite a skill to be able to read one thing and see another.

Man...reading through all of this, I feel rather lucky to be in the relationship I am! What a bunch of mercenaries y'all are!

IB, have you always had that opinion, or has it been influenced by crappy experiences?

Wow you people have been having fun while I've been absent. I'd go for both as both are very possible.

When the subject changed to romance someone already put my opinion down far better then I could so I am going to plagarise from IB:

Romance is overly exaggerated and an often expensive way
of saying to a man "I can buy your affections with kind words
and gifts". Men love it.

In fact, men actively encourage the purchasing of their affections
with material goods. Romance then, can be seen as a form of
purchasing sex. Therefore, all men who need to be romanced, are to
some degree prostitutes (I had to leave that in as I think the
sentiment is brilliant).

And the spending doesn't stop once you've got him, either. Men come
with support costs, where you're expected to buy maintenance goods in
exchange for further affections.
